Spurscast #284: Duncan injury, bold Baynes predictions and #letbonnershoot

Written by Michael A. De Leon on .

The SpurscastWe're back...finally with a new episode of the Spurscast. With Jeff Garcia out for this show due to what we can only guess is vest shopping, staff writers Jose Grijalva and Kyle Boenitz joined me to talk about the latest with the San Antonio Spurs.

Up first, we talked about the injury to Tim Duncan and how the San Antonio Spurs will stay afloat without him. We all agree that Tony Parker will be key to the Spurs winning big games during the rodeo road trip as long as Duncan is out. Jose and Kyle have some major expectations for Aron Baynes now that he is back from his sting with the Austin Toros.

While we are mixed on Duncan being healthy enough for the all-star game, we agree that we are all lucky Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is coaching the West All-Stars and will be monitoring his minutes should he return prior to the break.

We also all hope the #letbonnershoot campaign works in the Spurs forward's favor and he gets a chance to compete in the three-point shootout, especially since the game is in Houston, however we aren't sure whether Bonner's shooting style and release time are exactly cut out for the fast-paced contest. Look for our next podcast during All-Star weekend as we'll be covering the event in Houston.

I know no one will believe me but I talked to Matt before the Pacers game in Indy this year and suggested he start the let bonner shoot like to get in the three pt contest like Shannon brown did for the dunk contest. Matt laughed and said "not a bad idea". I think he can win.
