Spurscast #264: Who's to blame when it comes to RJ?
Written by Jeff Garcia on .
On this episode of the Spurscast, Paul Garcia and I talk about the handful of small forwards the San Antonio Spurs have reportedly have taken an interest. From Caron Butler, Josh Howard to Vince Carter, it seems the Spurs are looking to make a move.
But what does this mean for Richard Jefferson?
In the second half of the show, we discuss who is to blame when it comes to the disappointing two seasons with Jefferson in black and silver? Is it the Spurs' brass or RJ himself?

Why the FO keep taking slashers who are over-their-peak? And why force them become spot shooters?
I know it's Tim Duncan's "last leg" supposedly, but he hasn't been the best player on our team for 2,3 seasons and I think he'll still perform at the same level he has been for 2,3 more seasons.
I don't think we should make any desperate moves, our team had the best record for the majority of last season and we just had a one-handed Manu and a really really bad match up in Memphis. I think we should let Leonard/Anderson take over SF position, they won't have to readjust like Howard/butler or vinacity to a new system they have fresh minds.
we should save the money for a decent Center/PF (seems like Chanlder, Gasol and Nene are way out of our cap space league).
R>Jefferson is a shooter not a Bruce Bowen. He was taken in to replace bowen. The problem arises. Keep jefferson for now and wait for a better opportunity. et go of mcdyess, trade green, butler and blair. Go for at least 2 pf/c like c. landry, j.mcroberts, k. fesenko or earl clark. The spurs don't need a sf much less oldies like carter, howard and the rest.
come on spurs, look forward not bsckward'
Amnesty Jefferson. sign him back for less.Sign Howard. RJ plays backup to him. Keep Bonner, Trade Blair+McDyess+Green+Butler for any 2 7 footer or & footer +Point guard.
I'd take the younger Howard or Butler over RJ any day.. If Peter Holt is willing to pay to get rid of RJ any fan would be crazy to complain. Replacing him with Howard or Butler are both good options for less money. Those guys will have a lot of pressure to perform as well because of Leonard putting the pressure on. Butler will be a much better defender on large Small Forwards like Lebron while Howard will be better for less bulky quicker guys.
This is a great move from any fans perspective because you get to see a big name come in and some of our cap space open up.
I think it's a 50 50 chance. Who knows what the FO will do. They always have multiple deals going. No matter what it is.
