Former San Antonio Spurs great Larry Kenon will be receiving an honor that players eventually hope to achieve sometime down their line once their careers end, getting their number raised up into the rafters. For Kenon, he will forever see his #35 raised into the rafters at his former school, University of Memphis.
Kenon played one season at U of M in 1972-1973. Known back then as Memphis State, Kenon was on a team that went to the NCAA Championship before bowing out to John Wooden and Bill Walton of then powerhouse UCLA Bruins.
During that one season, Kenon but up great numbers. He averaged 20.7 points and 16.7 rebounds per game in 30 appearances. His mark was set while at Memphis. To this day he still holds the record for most rebounds in that season, 501.no comments
