As the San Antonio Spurs prepare for tonights match-up against the Utah Jazz in the Alamo City and in the AT&T Center, the rafters will be packed from top to bottom. Thus far, the San Antonio Spurs are the top team in the Western Conference sporting a 30-8 record, first team to 30 wins in the NBA this season mind you, and this has not gone unnoticed by the Spurs faithful all throughout San Antonio.
Through the first half of their home schedule the San Antonio Spurs are ranked in the top ten. (H/T Scott Bailey from San Antonio Business Journal) for the following information. San Antonio ranks third amongst the thirty NBA teams averaging 18,386 fans at the beautiful AT&T Center. How do they get these numbers? All of this information is compiled by ESPN's turnstile tracking data.
Compared to lastseason at this time, the Spurs did not crack the top ten as they were just outside coming it at 11th with 18,431 according to the turnstile tracking.
So, who holds the number one spot? Do you really want to know? Do you even care? Well.....I am going to tell you whether you like it or not.
The Chicago Bulls through 29 home games are the top spot in attendnace with 21,647 fans. The Houston Rockets, believe it or not have seen an increase in their ticket sales, could it have anything to do with the signing of Dwight Howard? They come in at 11th with averaging 18,091.
Spurs rival the Dallas Mavericks are second behind the Bulls despite having a sub-par season thus far. They bring in an average of 19,866.
Lets keep packing the AT&T Center and show the rest of the NBA why we have the best fans in any city.
Mavericks at 2nd? those fans that are going to attend the rest of their home games better prepare to see a disappointment record-wise and even witness them lose at their American Airlines Center home more. just saying because at some point, I expect the Mavs to be not in one of the 8 spots and eventually lead them to missing the playoffs for a 2nd straight year.
although I can possibly say the same with Bulls since they are without Rose again and now Deng is traded. but then again, I was expecting them to be a better team and with Rose healthy too.
@RockheadTG I too was shocked to see the Mavericks coming in at two on the list. Bulls will seemingly drop big time. At the end of the year, I would not see either of these teams in the top five.
