According to Yahoo! Sports, the San Antonio Spurs, among other teams, are pursuing Caron Butler.
When Butler picks Heat after Granger picked Clips, which poster will have the 1st meltdown I wonder...
i Believe Caron Butler will likely to sign with spurs because i remembered watching video of him talking about the spurs, he was still in the clipper team during this time, he said "i was close signing to the spurs.."
he almost signed with the spurs when he was free agent but decided to sign with clippers. Now seeing that he left clippers and releasing by bucks.. i feel like Caron butler is going to sign with Spurs. So, i wouldn't be surprised if he decided play with San antonio.
we missed our window on earl clark, he could have been a good addition on our wing who can defend at the number 3 or 4 position if we go small, darn it
What's funny is some Clippers fans on the ESPN boards were really excited when their team signed Stephen Jackson a couple of months ago. I said that Jackson was terrible now, and they jumped on me, calling me an idiot. Then SJax went on to score like four points for their team before getting cut.
I would go for either but I'd rather see a longer term option. T Williams or his brother Marcus would be helpful long term and since however we might get will likely not play much or maybe at all in the post season, why not look forward. Butler would be of more help than Granger. DG has lost his explosion and apparently his shot. Caron has been clutch in big games, but if these guys are worth paying, why not old Josh Howard, he has as much left as these guys, now knows the system, and will not expect to play much.
Clippers are most likely going to get Granger, smh. He not only wants to be on a title team, but also wants to play a lot. I guess LA is the place for him. He has an offseason home there, and his dad and brother live there. It's the perfect situation for him. I would be SHOCKED if he chose the Spurs. The Clippers aren't even Finals material in my opinion. They play zero defense, and rely on scoring. They will try and put up as many points as possible, hoping they have the most by the end of the game. That's how they play. That never works in the playoffs, let alone the Finals. I think Grangers upside and contribution will matter more here, than with LA. The Clippers like to score and score, it's mainly Blake Griffin with Jamal Crawford on the side and Chris Paul giving it to either of them. Granger may play big minutes, but he's not going to be a big factor as he hopes. I personally believe his contributions will be more significant off our bench, than him starting in LA.
Butler would be a nice addition if he signed with us, but I'm not overly optimistic. He had an opportunity to sign with the Spurs a couple of years ago and picked the Clippers I think for about the same money. I don't know why San Antonio is not a popular destination for players who want to join a contender, especially if the money is about the same.
Butler would be ok, but I don't think we're gonna get him nor do I think Spurs will try to push for him.
and unfortunately, I have the bad feeling that we may lose out on Granger if Clippers staff really threw in words to convince to go there. this is why I'm hoping Coach Pop and RC will come up with words that will sway him to SA and not LA.
and if SA doesn't get him, it looks like just another situation where they are fighting for a player against another team and seems that they (SA) get screwed over every time.
@ajd21 If you say the Clippers play zero defense that means you either haven't been paying attention, are thinking about last season, or just don't know what you're talking about.
@snoozulooz because these players now adays are so stupid and not thinking of a ring, only money matters to them
@LeonardIsOurFuture Last year, Clippers were ranked 4th in opponent points per game. This year, they rank 15th. So, why would I be thinking about LAST SEASON, if my argument was they play crappy defense this season? They were better last season, DUUUH! It's like you assume the Clippers were worst on defense last year than this year. It looks like you are the one who doesn't know what he's saying.
