League executives believe the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat are the top contenders to sign Danny Granger after he's bought out of his contract according to Jake Fischer, Boston Globe correspondent.
Many around the league expect Danny Granger to sign with either the Miami Heat or San Antonio Spurs once the Sixers buy him out.— Jake Fischer (@JakeLFischer) February 21, 2014
@quixem He or Big Baby would be a major coup for the Spurs.
Let me see here. Danny Granger could make sense given the Indy-SA two-way pipeline. But I don't think SA has the cash to get him. I think Big Baby is going to LA to help out Doc. I'm not so sure on Earl Clark. If Detroit were to buy out Luigi Datome, that might make sense, but haven't heard anything about that. Austin Daye can't guard his own shadow, I think that is just a salary dump and reward to Nando for behaving. If Stephen Jackson would say the right words, I think Pop would take him back.
A bench warmer with promise might make sense. Deshaun Thomas is playing well in France. Could he be signed by March 1? Maybe not. Davis Bertans is still recovering from injury. So no. Courtney Fells is playing pretty well down on the Toros. He might be worth a look, although at 6'5", he is a little short for a SF.
For me, I think I might try to bring in Deshaun Thomas if a deal could be executed quick enough at the right price. If not, I'd go for Stephen Jackson, if he is in the right frame of mind. If not, do nothing.
3.1 mil v 650,000$. Gravy train with Miami or compete in San Antonio for playing time and try to rebuild their name/brand/reputation. Something tells me both wind up, somehow, in Miami.
I'd like Danny Granger to sign with the Spurs. I'd also like a large pepperoni pizza, but is it really necessary?
How about Earl Clark? 6ers have already ditched him. Good size, young, and can play both Forward spots. I'd be surprised if Spurs didn't kick that tire too.
I'll just say it wouldn't surprise me if Spurs don't do anything regarding Danny Granger and Glen Davis being thrown around, but it would be interesting if they do push for either of the two (more likely Granger in my opinion).
@quixem I thought he's contract ran up on Sunday, did they sign him to two 10 day contracts?
@quixem Spurs probably wont sign Anyone. Done with speculation
@LASpursFanTim Granger would be nice, not so sure on Davis.
@joebuet Pepperoni pizza is necessary to my mental health
@janieannie The article mentioned the possibility of Granger signing with the Spurs, which isn't "nothing."
@janieannie It's standard protocol for stories like this. This isn't the first time.
@janieannie just trying to get the word out.
@blanchardJRB career worst PER and FG%! He's in his 30's! So many positive things!
@abramian_stefan yes, he signed his second 10-day deal on Feb. 12.
@RodrigoAndalonB I'm just reporting what's out there.
@quixem good system fit, IMO. Like Boris without the passing.
@quixem I know...JOSH HOWARD!
@quixem ahh thanks I wasn't aware of that
