Former NBA coach Phil Jackson has never been one to hold back his feelings.
While in the NBA, he took pot-shots at the San Antonio Spurs. From proclaiming the San Antonio's 1999 NBA title needed an asterisk because of the lockout shortened season to referring to the Spurs' offense as "Brokeback Mountain" in 2007, Phil has made sure to let his feelings known about the Spurs.
So it should come to a small surprise that Jackson actually praised San Antonio for their team game unlike what was on display during the 2014 NBA All Star Game.
All-Star game is a poor example for young players about how this TEAM sport should be played. No wonder the Spurs win with >|< talent!— Phil Jackson (@PhilJackson11) February 17, 2014
There you have it Spurs fans.
Granted, Jackson made those disparaging comments back when the Spurs-Lakers rivalry was at its highest but he has been away from the game for a while now and perhaps he has had a change of heart. He did pick the Spurs to beat the Heat in last season's NBA Finals afterall.
Thoughts Spurs fans?
I never take anything Phil Jackson says with a grain of salt. Phi had the luxury of only coaching NBA all star players. His championships would have come even if he only sat on the bench and whistle. Hey that's mostly what he did. Pop won his four championships with a variety of players both young and old. Phil teams were mostly made up of the best players money can buy. With that said, it is safe to say the Lakers will be out of the championship run picture for many years to come because it would require three superstars to get together and decide they want to play for the Lakers. Now, everyone is content with beating the daylights out of the Laker organization. Teams can look forward to coming to LA and enjoying both the sites and the knowledge that you will most likely leave with a victory against the Lakers. If the Clippers don't get another big man, you can add them to that victory celebration.
GO SPURS GO.
@quixem He still adds that damn asterisk
@quixem it's reads like a small jab at spurs. Mom
@blanchardJRB Phil is nothing but passive-aggressive.
