Update: The Spurs have officially announced Sam Young has been released. The roster now stands at 19.
After signing a training camp deal, it seems the Sam Young era in San Antonio is over.
According to a report, the San Antonio Spurs have waived Young.

Young did not impress during the team's first preseason game versus CSKA Moscow. He finished with zero points, and shot 0-6 from the field in 18 minutes. A performance like that will not cut it with the Spurs and it seems it took just one bad game for the team to know otherwise.
Young was to challenge Corey Maggette to back up forward Kawhi Leonard and many felt he had the inside track mainly due to his defense.
The void left at back up small forward still open, and it seems it might be Maggette's to lose. And he will get his shot to impress this Sunday versus the Suns.
Knew he was raw..didnt know he just sucked. Oh well. I'm still hoping for Hollis or Nunally tbh. Maybe even JaMychel Green who was released already
I don't think the Spurs will have 15 players on the roster come the first day of the season. But they have to have a back-up SF, and it looks like Corey Maggette will be that guy.
I'm thinking Patty Mills is going to get traded, probably to Philly or Atlanta. I think Patty has more trade value than Nando de Colo, so even though Patty is better, I think he gets traded. Then the Spurs can sign Maggette and still only have 14 guys.
For those of you dreaming about Matt Bonner being traded, I don't think so. I think there is ZERO chance Matt is traded. He doesn't have much trade value, and he know the Spurs plays, offense and defense. This is far more valuable to SA than for anybody else ...
@Spursfan66 Isn't Nunnally on the Sun's roster for training camp? I'm pretty sure Maggette will get it.
@MOlsen Bonner definitely has a lot of trade value at the deadline as an expiring contract. I think we'll see it.
@MOlsen Ime Udoka knows all the Spurs plays, too. Might as well throw him out there, he plays better defense than Matt and he can also pass up shots in the playoffs.
@JeffProjectSpurs Keep Maggette on the squad! Veteran leadership! He does drive the lane better than Richard Jefferson ever has.
