Oh so I guess that standing ovation that he got "overseas" at the 2012 Olympics when he went to the bench was just common for a guy who is as unpopular as ginobili, you have no idea whose popular and who isn't in Europe or the world for that matter.
KM are you on the right thread? Second, what planet are you from? Not that popular except for Spurs fans? Might want to change that to "not that popular with those who really don't know basketball.'
Kobe has cited repeatedly how much he respects Ginobili's passion and game, one of the few players Kobe has actually given those props to. Barkley has loved him forever for a reason-people who know B-ball know that during Manu's career he could have started for most any team and on most teams without a Duncan or Parker he could have easily averaged ridiculous numbers. Manu always has sublimated his ego and position for the betterment of the team. The consummate teammate. And our new guy, Marco? Marco grew up idolizing Manu and that was one of the reasons (and playing for Pop who gets Euros) he came here. How quickly people forget.
Yeah, Big Shot Rob was phenomenal.
really it's no surprise. Tim is one of the best basketball players out there. As for Manu it's probably what have you done for me lately and he hasn't stuck out lately. Manu really has never been that popular except with Spurs fans. The only time he really stuck out and was at the top of the list is when he won the gold medal at the Olympics. For some reason even when Manu was good he still wasn't that popular overseas.
He was so freaking great. I don't think anything rattled Horry. Not Pop. Not The Big Moments (Ahem, Mr. Bonner)-nada. Laid back indeed. Met him at a restaurant once. One of our young co-workers did the unthinkable, ran over to him and asked for her picture with him. He said "Bring over all your friends"-so he took pics with all of us. Nice guy.
Guy could go 1-8 on three's and Pop dial his # for the game winner and he'd drain it.
He was so unflappable if Pop had signed him instead of T-Mac (even though Big Shot Rob is old and about 40 pounds over his playing weight now), Pop could have activated him for game 6, put him in the last 2 minutes and said 'Rob-know you haven't played in a long time, but we need you to do what you do," I can see Rob saying "Alright" goes into game, drains a few 3's. Gets another ring. No big deal.
He was freaking special indeed
