By comparison game 1 between Heat/Pacers was the 3rd highest-rated conference finals opener of the past 10 years. I'm sure that if Heat/Spurs end up playing in the Finals ratings will be just fine and probably some of the highest in years.
Sterns NBA is constantly searching for the next Michael Jordan. They promote "Superstars" instead of teams. The Spurs play beautiful basketball that is fun to watch. That's what Stern's NBA should be promoting.
Dick Stockton couldn't even get the player names right. Also, being on the East Coast, those games didn' end for us until after 1 in the morning. I am a die hard sprurs fan so I stayed up, but the late games could hurt ratings on th east coast. Anyone who says we are slow and boringis not watching because we are not. The GSW Spurs series has been one of the best
the horrible commentating of dick stockton and chris webber may have had something to do with it. besides both being boring and webber extremely biased and opinionated, it was obvious the two had never worked together before. they weren't coherent with eachother at all. i imagine if the local option was available the national rankings would be way lower.
Works for me.
The networks should do more to promote the sport and less to promote the stars that are always injured (Bryant, Rose, Rondo, Westbrook) or don't even make the playoffs...
