The Los Angeles Lakers have been stumbling this season, but their fan base has been as strong as ever. They're one of the most popular franchises in the league and it doesn't seem often the feel like the're at an "away" game this season.
Their star Kobe Bryant has been heard getting MVP chants when they're away from the Staples enter in some venues. Well, except in two anyway. Lakers forward Antawn Jamison commented on which two away floors actually feel like away games.
Antawn Jamison tells
@ESPNLA710 that the only 2 road games he didn't feel the Lakers had the crowd behind them were OKC and San Antonio (@mcten)
It seems San Antonio Spurs fans still have a sense of rivalry against the Lakers and it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
Even thought the likes of Shaquille O'Neal and Derek Fisher aren't faces in gold and purple anymore, Bryant is still one of the many reasons why Spurs fans' blood seems to boil. Bryant has won five NBA championships during his career with the Lakers, two of them after the team made a controversial trade for forward/center Pau Gasol in 2007.
This event has been questioned by Spurs fans and others alike and has added to the hate they have toward Los Angeles. The Lakers are barely hanging around the eighth spot in the Western Conference so far, an event that didn't look likely with the talent they have this season.
This underachieving hasn't made the fire against them in San Antonio burn less, especially when it looks like there may be a first round matchup between the two teams. The good news for the silver and black squad is that it looks Spurs fans are firmly behind their team when the Lakers come to town.
It's great news especially when they may be returning after the season is finished depending on the standings.
We bleed silver and black. I would rather stick a hot soldering gun in each of my eyes then root for the Lakers.
That is because a spurs fan is a true fan and after decades of winning our town doesn't have a reason jump on another team's wagon...
I can't wait until the Lakers don't even make the playoffs this year and all of their bandwagon fans disown the team. It will be like shining light on a bunch of cockroaches. Everyone has tip-toed around what is actually causing the Fakers to fail this season when it's clear the problem is none other than Kobe Bryant refusing to take a backseat to his bigs.
@MarkCubanisaDouche lol best name ever
@CraigThomas that is the differance between him and Lebron, Lebron wants his teammates to be great, he has fun and makes them all feel like a team. Lebron to the cavs to the finals with a bunch of nobodies. Kobe needed Shaq, as soon as he left 2 straight series loses to the suns. Then a sham trade for Gasol and Derick Fisher weaseling his way out of his contract in Utah to get his next ring. .I am glad Kobe is running off Howard so the Lakers can suck till Kobe retires a loser. And the LA bandwagon will be down for a few years
