Another day, another report of workouts from the San Antonio Spurs. However, this time I'm pretty sure we can trust the source. Oregon forward Arsalan Kazemi tweeted that he worked out for the Western Conference Champions over the weekend.
Kazemi is a projected late second round pick. He's Iranian born, 6'8" and helped the 12 seeded Ducks make it to the Sweet 16. Before that, he played three seasons at Rice. He's a relentless rebounder who averaged 10 a game in his final collegiate season. He's probably more of a power forward but in a small forward's body.
He's definitely worthy of a late second round pick. He can give a team something similar to what Draymond Green gave the Golden State Warriors this season. He'll never be a star but will be able to give teams 10-15 minutes of hustle and energy and that never hurt anyone.
There is a "kazemiworld"??? Look at the guys tweets, you'd think at least he could vary them a bit. Same tweet for Portland and Minne. No thanks.
This draft has some decent wings towards the middle/end of the first round. Yeah, Franklin is interesting. So are Crabbe, Snell, Rice, Hardaway, Bullock, Karasev, Ledo ... Just depends what RC and Pop decide to do. The only one I don't like is Shabazz Muhammed. I can see them going SF/SG at 28, and foreign at 58. I can see them going big at 28, and foreign at 58. I'm not convinced they will go small at 28 and get yet another PG ... that I don't see. I can see them going foreign at 28 and 58 and saving money for free agents. Whatever.
man im liking and kinda hoping he falls (not likely) but jamaal franklin is ideal for the spurs defense at the 2 spot. word is he is a smaller kawhi. dannys been great and this kid could come off the bench and work his jumper with chip england. ahhh pipe dreams!
