The NBA free agency is in overdrive today and the San Antonio Spurs have been reportedly right in the thick of things.
Throughout the day, the Spurs have been linked with several free agents and now TNT's David Aldridge is reporting San Antonio is among several teams interested in center Zaza Pachilia.

With this report on Pachulia and with the Spurs reportedly interested in acquiring center Marcin Gortat, one has to wonder if this is a sign that the team will not be able to re-sign current free agent Tiago Splitter. Splitter did have a great regular season, increasing his overall numbers and proving to be effective in the running the pick-and-roll but a lackluster performance in the postseason may be hurting his chances at getting a bigger deal with the Spurs.
Pachulia, although coming off surgery, is much more physical in the paint and isn't afraid to get in a player's face. Ask Kevin Garnett.
In other news, Aldridge is reporting the Spurs and free agent Manu Ginobili are not rushing things at trying to reach a new deal.
Talks between Spurs, Manu Ginobili not likely for several days, per sources. No rush on either side.— David Aldridge (@daldridgetnt) July 1, 2013
I'm really hoping Manu's wife talks him into retiring while he's on his nice long vacation. There's no reason he should have to go out being hated so much. I know he had a horrible playoffs but that's no reason for the hate. Hopefully we can get some new players in the meantime and he can do other things with his life.
"...but a lackluster performance in the postseason may be hurting his chances at getting a bigger deal with the Spurs".
If I can piggy back off of The Grind, it was a small [playoffs (e.g., Golden State)] and Finals. Let's not forget, Split was a huge part of our journey through the West (is the best) where we have to post up against the likes of Dwight, Gasol(s), Griffin, McGee, Asik, Zebo, Perkins, and the list goes on. I hope Split sees that his appreciation will come all in good time. Sadly, we all know Duncan and Manu will retire soon ultimately raising the cap space ceiling. I also hope he sees that his best chance of becoming a champion is with the Spurs, not with the Suns haha. He is our future and knowing the Spurs, there will be no trade.
