As the decision time draws closer for free agent center Greg Oden to make a choice on where he will choose to play next in his basketball career, word has come out via Steve Aschburner of NBA.com that a decision could be made as early as this coming Monday.
His workouts complete, his guests leaving in some mixture of intrigued and wary, sidelined center Greg Oden could choose the NBA team with which he’ll attempt his latest comeback as soon as Monday, one of his agents said Friday.
On Thursday, reports said Oden would make his decision sometime in the coming week. Friday, Marc Stein of ESPN.com tweeted that his sources said the Spurs were one of a few teams that observed Oden in a workout in Indianapolis.
Along with the Spurs, the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks, and Dallas Mavericks are all also in the running to land Oden. The Spurs and Heat have been labeled the 'co-favorites' according to reports and San Antonio's interest in Oden is the longest of any of the teams as reports had the rumors beginning almost a year ago in August 2012.
Come Monday, Twitter will be in anticipation of word from Oden's camp. However, Monday is just a possibility, not the precise date.
I'm excited ..........tension too much , can cut it. Hopefully he makes the right decision . The ultimate compliment to Duncan will give us Spurs fans a reason to smile again.
@toosexy4mycat so reaching the NBA Finals for the first time in six years along with taking the Miami Heat to the very limit isn't enough to smile about? Anyways, Duncan already has an excellent complement in Tiago Splitter and therfore do not need a train wreck such as Oden.
IDK why there is so much hype for a guy that had not even played 82 games in his entire NBA career who has more red flags that a stormy Caribbean coast. He was never that great to begin with and with his history, it is doubtful that he will even dress let alone play any meaningful minutes on the court.
I don't think you know what you're talking about. He's a very highly talented player that can only get better if his body lets him. People forget how good this guy is and the few games he played in Portland wher not enough too show anyone just how good this guy is.
@toosexy4mycat He's not as talented as people would have you believe and I am sure if Portland had it to do all over again, they would choose Kevin Durant instead. How do we know that he is still a talented player--he has not even played more than a season. He's certainly no All Star and I doubt that the will give the meaningful minutes to change that perception whatsoever.
