Once an elite NBA power, though it’s still not too late, the 15-19 depleted Los Angeles Lakers have flown into San Antonio to visit the (27-10) San Antonio Spurs.
With the Lakers comes a lot of media, only Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich doesn’t really pay too much attention to what’s going on out in Hollywood.
“I don’t think about it,” said Coach Pop when asked if he’s surprised the Lakers have struggled three months into the season. "I just pay attention to what I have to do and then I go home," continued Popovich.
With Mike D’Antoni now coaching the Lakers, he’s been criticized now and in the past for his reputation for his past teams production on the defensive end of the floor, Popovich would disagree with most media outlets though.
"People act like he's never heard the word,” said Coach Pop of D’Antoni’s defense “like he can’t spell it, but that can't be further from the truth."
Popovich continued, "He's wasting his time trying to convince all of you guys because it's a better story the other way."
And finally, Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant have more than 31 years of NBA experience combined on their resume, and Popovich gave an indication on why both players, so far in age, are having stellar careers.
"At the heart, they're very-very competitive individuals."
The Spurs lineup should be punished for their ineptitude, No less than TD, TP, Manu and the rest of the players who played the last 5 minutes are guilty of playing basketball like kindergartens. They deserve tongue lashing. Coach Pop must see to it this incident will not be repeated. They almost wasted a double digit lead during the last 5 minutes. Earl Clark who played the game of life when he missed the possible tying basket.
