With his ticket to the All-Star game punched for the fifth time, San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker finds himself in the same rare air as George “The Iceman” Gervin, "The Admiral" David Robinson, and Tim Duncan. This foursome has played in the All-Star at least five times or more.
As the All-Star game approaches, we take a look at Tony Parker’s first half and see what the coaches are seeing.
Parker is continuing his assertion, as a leading scorer, that he took on last season. This assertion is needed to keep Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan fresh for the playoffs.
Tony’s increase, in scoring, has occurred with an increased efficiency from the charity stripe and behind the three point line. This leads to the offense staying in balance but taking advantage of his increased aggressiveness.
The bump in the assist production also helps keeps the likes of Stephen Jackson, Boris Diaw and Matt Bonner engaged on the offensive ends. Also, Tiago Splitter will get easy put backs on misses while the defense is running to the three point line.
As a result everyone will be contributing max effort on the defensive end. Which follows the blueprint that has lead the Spurs to their four title under the Popovich/Buford regime.

Congrats to Tony. He well deserves it. I was surprised to see that Manu made as many AS appearances as Sean Elliott. For some reason it feels like Sean has done more in this league in accomplishments than Manu with only 2.

@kmgospurs true but manu was more flashy than Sean. That's what all star game is about flash. I view them in the same light. Great team players, deadly shooters and worked hard on both ends.
