5 things to watch: Spurs vs. Suns

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

The San Antonio Spurs (44-13) will wrap up their 2013 Rodeo Road Trip (6-2) with a stop in Phoenix to face the Suns (18-38). This will be the second time the two teams face off this season with the Spurs winning the first meeting 108-99 in San Antonio. Tony Parker led the Spurs with 31 points and 7 assists.

The Spurs will be without All-Star guard Tony Parker (right triceps contusion) versus the Suns and guard Gary Neal is questionable.

The Spurs are coming off a 107-101 overtime loss to the Warriors on the road. Tim Duncan led the way with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks in the loss.

The Suns are coming off a 88-113 loss to the Celtics. Goran Dragic finished with 19 points, 10 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks to pace the Suns.

And as the Spurs look to win six straight over the Suns, here are five things to watch for in tonight's contest:

• The Spurs are a perfect 11-0 on the road when they shoot 50% or more.

• The Suns' Dragic is averaging 18.3 points and 12.7 assists in the last three games.

• Three of the Suns’ comebacks are from deficits of 19 or more points this season.

• The Suns are 0-2 at home when opponents score 110-119 points.

• The Suns are 0-2 when they score less than 80 points at home.

I'm looking toward Nando the most. On the games he's started in this season, he's been pretty good. Lets make up for our 4th quarter collapse in golden state.

@ajd21 I was at the Game last night and seen Nando up close, he just too much hype...he sucks

@ChrisCano You do realize he's a ROOKIE right?

@ChrisCano So anyone who defends Nando is his biggest fan? You are the one who says he doesn't belong in the NBA, and I think he does. Yet, you fail to see he is out a rookie and needs time to adjust. That is the premise that started this whole argument. But you are blind to your own ignorance. Leave me the hell alone please.

@ajd21  @ChrisCano I love how you need to use names to try and prove a point and yes NAndo will be great cause you are so smart. Pop always gives 11 min a game to those players he wants to see develop into the rotation. We better resign Blair too cause they are not even considered roll players on the team but are fan favorites, did you even watch the game last night cause if Nando was the future this is the time to let him run and team needs to gel around him. This is cruch time and coach pop doesnt experiment close to playoff time. why do you think the rode a 20 game winning streak into last years playoffs. This will be continued...And no need to respond yes im Ignorant and stupid....So continue to focus on making fake FB profiles and keep on trying to catfish your boy Nando, cause you are his biggest fan..

@ChrisCano You are ignorant because you still don't know how pop works. He is EXPERIMENTING. Nando had 15 points against Miami, and he he did very well against Chicago during the road trip, you think pop will keep him on the bench? You fool. Joseph did alright against Detroit yesterday, but it was freaking DETROIT for crying out loud. Pop wanted Cory to start against a pretty bad team, to see how he does. You think Joseph would start against Memphis? OKC? The lakers? No you idiot. What better way to test a D League player than against a bad team. That was Pop's plan. Nando started against Miami and Chicago, both over Joseph, and he also started against Charlotte. Yesterday was a home game against a bad team who is bad on the road, pop knew it was a good game for Joseph to start because Detroit isn't a great team, DUH!! You are stupid.

@ajd21 wow did you see Nando get that start once Parker went down, he did great i am so ignorant what was i thinking...lol

ChrisCano
ChrisCano

@ajd21 you also right cause neal is averaging what is that 20 min a game....

@ajd21 Did i upset you cup cake your right Nando is the NBA next big thing, what was i think thanks for setting me straight cause our coach loves to let a great player sit on the bench. the same coach that saw the talent in Manu and Parker and made them adjust to the game. Im was wrong this whole time well lets play the imaginary game some more what if he played 30 min a season how great his numbers would be, he would be in the all star game and the next derrick rose. But lets stop and talk about that start which he was yanked out after the first quarter for the spurs against a joke of the league Suns. He gave us 27 min of a hall of fame performance...what were those number 27 min 1-4 FG 4 points and 1 assist....so imagine if the let him play 60 min right number would be through the roof...Lets see Mills numbers for last night 23 min and 16 points...Like i said coach pop knows talent and he doesnt see it in him. so maybe you should send him your toughts cause you are the only one that knows basketball...we are all idiots right...or lets talk about his ten min a game and most of those min are after blowouts and junk min against 3 string players...If he was a decent player parker wouldnt be averaging 33 min a game right....So sorry to break your heart and take your Nando posters off your wall because he is Garbage...

@ChrisCano  Seriously? Dirk in his rookie year made important contributions to the team? He was nickname "Irk Nowiztki" because he was so soft. Virtually everyone overpowered him. He averaged THREE, yes THREE rebounds a game in 20 minutes of play. For being a top 10 pick, he looked like a complete bust his rookie year. He didn't perform up to expectations his rookie year, that he thought about quitting the NBA and going back to Germany. After that year, the rest is history. Manu was good, but injury prone. The spurs desperately needed a spark off the bench in 2003 and Manu delivered. Still, 20 minutes and 7 points, that's not THAT great. Nando is currently averaging 11 minutes and about 3.4 ppg. If Nando were to get 20 minutes a game, he'd probably average around 7-8 points a game, like Manu in his rookie year. I'm talking about ROOKIE years since Nando is currently in his. Nando is not longer buried on the bench you IDIOT, he is currently Tony Parker's backup. He won the battle with Neal and Mills for being Parker's backup a couple of days ago. Why do you think he started yesterday against Phoenix? That right there tells me you haven't kept up with the spurs, OR, you are just too stupid and don't pay attention. He DOES know english and I remember people like you saying Tiago would never be a starter for us. LMFAO, you've just embarrassed yourself.

@ajd21  @ChrisCano both your point make you sound ignorant and a lil girl, first off both players were playing more then 20 min a game...they also made contributions to their teams in other ways like played an important part of our ring that year oh also averaged a ton of playing time as a six man...Tony Parker and barbosa both averaged 29 min per game and helped their team in their rookie season...The Game is the game you deal with Language as you go and talent will always shine...Nando is buried on the bench for a reason he doesnt have it....Um why else is he burried on the bench...Their is a reason why they play basketball in Europe, those players are just ok...and before you bring up they few that have made the jump....it is very few...the same can be said for arena football and the NFl.....ignorant i bleed silver and black but I dont try to say some of our players are better then what they are...I can tell you he will never be a starter on our team or any other team in the NBA once he does learn english...lol

@ChrisCano You are so ignorant. It's his first year, he is foreign, and he's only started 3 games. To say he's not NBA material is so stupid. He's in a new system, a new league, and playing a different type of basketball against different types of players from overseas. Dirk Nowitzki was TERRIBLE his rookie year, because he was #1 a rookie and #2 a foreign player. Age is not an excuse, Manu was a 25 year old rookie, and he only averaged 7 points a game his first year. He's learning, and he needs TIME to get comfortable with the SYSTEM and playing in the NBA. You are a prisoner of the moment.

@ajd21 And he is 25 people dont get faster as they get older...

ChrisCano
ChrisCano

@ajd21  @ChrisCano You are right so many slow PG are Great in this league, since you know what makes Parker an MVP it is how fast he can attack the basket and either drive to the lane or create a shot for a team mate...i believe that is call an assist....another thing that he must do is be able to create his own shot another thing he cant do...Ignorance, lets see if he was a great PG like we had in hill parker wouldnt be on the floor 30+ min a game...Basketball you either have it or dont and he doesnt have it...

ajd21
ajd21

@ChrisCano That is just pure ignorance. Athleticism doesn't guarantee success. You don't know basketball

ChrisCano
ChrisCano

@ajd21  @ChrisCano He is a 25 year old and that will always be the best you will see out of him, he is slow cant shoot and horrible footwork...you can improve but he is too slow for the NBA
