Josh Childress will work out for the Cavaliers and Spurs over the next two weeks, agent Chris Emens told HoopsHype.— HoopsHype (@hoopshype) August 27, 2013
The San Antonio Spurs continue their summer work in the hopes of adding the right pieces heading into next season and according to Hoops Hype, the Spurs are set to workout guard/forward Josh Childress.
Childress played with the Nets last season in 14 games and averaged 5 points, and 5.4 rebounds. He is 29 years old and was drafted by the Hawks in the 2004 NBA Draft.
Aside from the Nets, Josh has played with the Suns and Hawks and spent two years (2008-2010) playing in Greece before returning to the NBA in the 2010-11 season with the Suns.
The Spurs have one roster spot left (15th spot) and with the amount of guards already on the roster, it is not surprising the team is looking at a forward like Childress. He is a versatile player and could relieve Kawhi Leonard on the court.
For his NBA career, Josh has averaged 9.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and shot 53 percent.
What do you think about the Spurs looking at Childress Spurs fans?
hoops world is reorting tat with the trade of Caron butler, it is more likely that the suns waive Beasley. I would love to get him. Myabe on a winning squad and surrounded by professionals and Pop, he could play to his potential and possibly fall in line. Probably doubtful that he could lay off the weed though.
@Coxcr20 Gotta take a pass on Beasley. Way too many issues. You thought Stephen Jackson was a headache? Beasley is similar to the Stephon Marbury, JR Rider mold. Headcase gets in the way of his talent. More teams would take the risk if Beasley performed well on the court, but he's an underachieving player with off-court issues, too.
@Coxcr20 considering SA is like the largest city in the usa for drug trafficking, hmmm he might like SA lol.
i wouldnt mind beasley if hes interested, but getting him would be (excuse the pun) a pipe dream
I thought Ronnie Brewer who just signed with the Rockets would have been a better fit for the Spurs than Childress. He seemed to decline as a player instead of getting better. Brewer can't shoot, but does everything else.
Why in the world do they want him for. He's been injured before and doesn't even play defense. We need somebody whose going to rebound, block and defend.
@Spursfan66 It's NOT what YOU want. Nobody is asking you, MORON!
@rtesoro440 Over the cap like Ive said 100 freakin times to you whenever you pick this particular thing to bitch about..READ THE RULES or just continue to sound like a complete fool..And btw its grasping AT straws dolt.
@rtesoro440 @Spursfan66 Where did I say ANYTHING CLOSE to "spurs are taaking him" dolt? And yes, I have had to educate you about the cap more times than I care to remember, but obviously anything regarding bball rules, knowledge etc is well beyond your ability to comprehend...so you keep making asinine comments and I keep pointing out your jackassery. Thats the dynamic you brought upon yourself by insulting one too many people on this site for absolutely no reason. Live by the troll, die by the troll, vag
Didn't he blow out a knee or something? Seems he got hurt and never was the same. Pre injury Childress was actually a player I liked for the spurs.
His numbers last year are better than Blair's lol
Never really wathed this guy play. I know that he has an ugly looking jump shot release. How is he on Defense? We just need at least one back up sf. What about Michael Pietrus? Is he too washed up? Also, Gelebale is available and I thought he was on our radar last year
