Tony Parker was nearly on 'How I Met Your Mother'
Written by Jeff Garcia on .
If there is any player on the San Antonio Spurs who does not shy away from the spotlight, it's Tony Parker.
He is quick to do tons of commercials hawking various items, put out "rap" albums, and was at one point married to actress Eva Longoria which also included that massive, spectacle of a wedding in France.
But it seems TP isn't shy about trying out his acting chops as well.
According to Parker (via French site Le Parisien), Parker's agent had him nearly making his acting debut on the sitcom "How I Met Your Mother." Unfortunately, due to a prior engagement in the United States, he couldn't make the appearance which apparently was to be a big role.
This may have been a blessing in disguise seeing how it could have been a train wreck a la his "rap" career. Who knows if he picked up a few pointers from his ex-wife but needless to say, I may have cringed at TP acting.
Though it sure would have been great fodder for Spurs fans to talk about for years to come.
But this isn't the first time a Spur acted. David Robinson and Sean Elliott made cameos in the movie "Forget Paris," and Robinson also made a cameo in the movie "Like Mike," where he got dunked on by Lil' Bow Wow.
@dannyholloway lol Agreed..aint no thang. Have always respected your takes too. I'll simply take this as practice for the next joust I have with rtesoro here, or Inside on mysa..(who I actually do NOT respect lol) Enjoy the weekend and be my guest to take the last word below..ALSO aint no thang..;)
@Spursfan66 Lol. Agree to disagree, bro. I don't know your mom. And I did, I probably wouldn't have made the joke. But it was a joke. I didn't really expect to keep going back and forth about this. Your a fellow die hard Spurs fan, and for that reason alone I respect you. I'm not really trying to have the last word here, and I hope it doesn't look that way. But I also do enjoy a little bit of internet jousting now and then. Nothing personal, of course. We've both agreed on many things before and this was quite the detour. But a fun one. I think : )
@dannyholloway lol ironic that you claim that I am the one that doesn't read when you attempt to make the "point" that I was referring to you being hypocritical about the Mom joke when in ACTUALITY I was CLEARLY referring to OLD being hypocritical..My quote" But not hypocritical at all to comment that a TP mom joke is old, and then reply with an even OLDER mom joke." I won't take your tack and question your reading, clearly your comprehension is the issue. lol
@dannyholloway lol I read fine..quite well in fact. Fact is, I never even hinted that you "scolded" me at all. I had absolutely no issue until you chose to make it overtly personal, and even then it was no huge deal to me tbh. I honestly didn't expect YOU would take the "recover" JOKE as a personal affront, as I never saw evidence of you being so thin skinned before on here or mysa or chats as we have had discourse before on many occasions. Obviously I was mistaken in that regard.
As for you somehow thinking a SOMEWHAT topical joke about TP is immature at all especially as compared to momma jokes that go back DECADES, well I guess we can agree to disagree. That said, saying a TP joke is old or uninspired and in turn contending that momma jokes are NOT, well that makes absolutely no sense to me. To me, lame/immature/unoriginal jokes are ones that kids tell in the schoolyard that they likely heard from older brothers etc through generations and repeated ad nauseum unchanged throughout that time (see: momma jokes). THAT is uninspired, and unoriginal to me. And frankly, I have never heard of a kid telling a TP joke..for that matter, I've only ever seen a FEW TP jokes of this ilk at all..and virtually NO TP/mom jokes.lol Girlfriend jokes etc, ya..mom no. I would love to see you provide a sampling of a few of these supposed COMMON TP/momma jokes. If you can provide them I will happily concede that perhaps they could be considered old, and perhaps even MY joke unoriginal. But I think we both know this won't happen for obvious reasons.
So you can go on and on about originality and so on and so forth, but to suggest my joke was ANY LESS original than your Momma joke is pretty funny to me. Try googling momma jokes and TP jokes, consider the mountain of results for one (and lack thereof of the other), and get back to me about originality. As for the IQ jab, I will take the high road and let my points above prove that I have no worries in that area.
I enjoy some sophomoric humor as well and look forward to seeing your examples of the cornucopia of TP/mom jokes out there that I somehow missed ;)
@Spursfan66 You know what the saddest part of all of this is? You don't know how to read.
I never really "scolded" you or whatever for making an immature joke. I actually love immature humor. You accused me of being a hypocrite because I came back at you with a "mom joke." But if you go back to my first post directed to you, my issue was never that you made an immature joke. It was that the joke is quite old. It's been done. It was uninspired and quite lame........................
I love immature humor. What I don't care for is a complete lack of originality. Which is what my issue with your joke was. Originality says all I need to know about someones IQ score. So, good luck, I guess.
@dannyholloway lol absolutely on a more mature level than ancient momma jokes that children make, and definitely more topical in comparison, and foremost NOT personal at all, which is why you are clearly the one overreacting. You know a lot of kids making TP jokes? Fail..lol
@Spursfan66 yeah. because jokes about TP like you cracked are the beacon of maturity and aren't schoolyard in the least. Well done.
@Spursfan66 Have at it? So...now you're mom's back into the mix? ; )^you see what I did there?
@dannyholloway My lol's speak for themselves, but if that makes ya feel better, have at it ;)
@dannyholloway AGAIN hypocritical to suggest it is ME that's sensitive when it was actually YOU being hyper sensitive to an OBVIOUS joke about TP in the first place..lol THEN making it completely personal by going straight for the momma angle after my comparatively TAME comment (re:joke) about you recovering. And ya, someone that makes it overtly personal after such a SLIGHT jab would likely be seen as overreacting by most people.
And I guess it wasn't so unreadable since you not only DID read it but also replied to it.lol
And btw, I was referring to TP's marriage to a cougar more than some rumored "affair" with whats-her-name, but obviously that didn't occur to you
@Spursfan66 Yeah, but at least "your mom" jokes are still funny. It'll be the year 2165 and "your mom" jokes will still get there fair amount of knee slapping-type of reactions. Jokes about TP's ONE major indiscretion, on the other hand? Unoriginal. Unreadable. And uninspired. And if THAT joke I posted above was me overreacting in your eyes? You're quite the sensitive fellow. I might suggest your check on the cleanliness of your vag, as well. Lololol.
@dannyholloway lol Wow, way to totally overreact.. But not hypocritical at all to comment that a TP mom joke is old, and then reply with an even OLDER mom joke. I hope you can get the sand washed out of your vag
@Spursfan66 Recover? From what? The STD your mom gave me? Yeah. All cleared up. No worries.
