Take a look at the new Spurs alternative jerseys
Written by Jeff Garcia on .

Well there you have it San Antonio Spurs fans. The Spurs unveiled their alternate uniforms which they will wear for opening night and other games throughout the upcoming season.
Personally, I am not a fan of them. They could have done a much better job (maybe a pin-stripe look) but this looks like some D-League jersey. Project Spurs' Trevor Zickgraf mentioned the shorts are nice (which I agree) but other than than, this new jersey fell flat.
It is too simplistic a look and doesn't "pop" like other NBA team's alternate uniforms like Miami's all black look.
OK Spurs fans time to chime in. What do you think about the new alternate uniforms?
These uniforms are for games againt the NETS so the players know who's on thier team.
Don't really like! I think they look a little cheap, plain, and boring! I think the design team could have done a better job, been a little more creative! I think it just gave critics some more fuel for the fire to say spurs are boring! I guess I will grow to like it, since I bleed that silver and black! GO SPURS GO!!!
THE NEW JERSERS ARE PRETTY AWESOME AND DIFFERENT THEN WHAT ANY OTHER TEAM HAS. DEFINATELY GLAD THEY DID NOT PUT THOSE AWFUL FIESTA COLORS ANYWHERE NEAR THESE JERSEYS
The shorts are fine, but the jerseys look like practice jerseys. Shouldn't the jerseys have the city name or team mascot on them? Where is SAN ANTONIO or SPURS?? How can you possibly leave those out? But these are ALTERNATE jerseys right? Like, the team would wear these the same amount of time they wore the Chaparrals last season right? If so, then we won't see the team wear it as much. This isn't the new home uniform or away uniform right? I hope not. I hope whoever made this uniform can hear or see our reactions and hopefully take them away and change them, or take them away forever.
@ajd21 Team Mascot on them? So you think the jerseys should have the coyote on them? And frankly, does anyone look at the spurs logo and NOT realize its a spur? Our usual unis do have spurs AND the logo, so I dont see the problem with the alternate just focusing on the logo. And the shorts have a pretty visible SA on them. I do like the fact that they took a chance and tried something virtually no one else did..make the Spurs logo the star.
@Spursfan66 Not the MASCOT, I meant their team symbol, SPURS. Shouldn't the word SPURS be on there? I mean, every team in the league has either the city name or team name on there. The jersey looks so bland because we are so used to some letters on there across their chests.
@ajd21 lol I kinda thought you may have meant the logo..cant imagine anyone actually thinking the coyote should be on there.. And I think their actual goal WAS to do it different than the other guys. Who wants to be just like everyone else? It does seem a bit sparse on front, but I think the idea is sound. (plus it actually does say san antonio spurs on the back, its just small)
@ajd21 they'll still have the usual home and away jerseys. like you said, they are alternate, so they won't wear them more than the home jerseys, at least.
The Good: Side stripes, small number, silver color.
The Bad: Upper left placement of the numbers.
The Ugly: That overblown Spur logo. Seriously, its like whoever designed these just said screw it let's just toss on a massive Spur and call it a day. The negative space around the logo really conjures up images of a D-League or Practice jersey in my mind.
Conclusion: D+ (Nearly a resounding F. As some have mentioned, a hint of former teal, pink, or orange would have been nice. Not necessary though.)
I give them a resounding eh. I would have preferred a resurrection of the fiesta colors....
