Spurs add former Toro Tre Kelley to training camp roster

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

As we reported earlier today, the San Antonio Spurs added forward Wesley Witherspoon to their upcoming training camp roster and how it seems point guard Tre  Kelley also has received an invite.

Kelley is 6'0", 188 lbs. and played at the University of South Carolina. In his senior year, he averaged 18.9 points, 5.1 assists, and 2.6 rebounds. He entered the 2007 NBA Draft but went undrafted.

Since then he has played overseas with teams in Croatia and Israel, had a stint with the Miami Heat in 2008. He was invited to the Memphis Grizzlies 2010 training camp, but was waived on October. He also played for the Spurs D-League affiliate Austin Toros in 2011.

Though he is a long shot to make the team roster considering the amount of point guards on the current roster, Kelley could see himself in Austin.

What do you think Spurs fans? Let us know what you think.

This guy will at best play in Austin Toros, being called at times, play some garbage minutes when we are down like 30, and then may join next year's camp, doing the same thing, then get cut or disappear someday, then go somewhere in Europe, Russia, or China. Let's be honest, how many D-leaguers ever make big impact for the Spurs? Don't tell me Alonzo Gee, though he thrives a little now in Cleveland, with Spurs he rarely get chances. I think the same thing will happen to James Anderson. The former 1st round pick will become a good rotation player even one of their future for the Hawks, that's because other teams ACTUALLY PLAY THEM TO SEE THEIR POTENTIAL.
