Video: ESPN's Smith, Bayless discuss fines for flopping

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

Flopping can be an effective tool and annoying at the same time. If your favorite player on your favorite team does it and draws the call, you love it. If it's done against your favorite team, it is aggravating.

And for many seasons, San Antonio Spurs' Manu Ginobili has mastered the art of the flop. Spurs fans have seen him flop countless times and for the most part, he has gotten away with the dramatics.

However, heading into next season, the NBA is finalizing a new rule which will call for a fine for flopping which will greatly affect Ginobili.

Check out what every Spurs fans "favorite" TV personality at ESPN Stephen A. Smith and huge Spurs fan Skip Bayless had to say about the new rule.

What do you have to say Spurs fans? Do you agree with the new flop rule? Do you think it will take away from Manu?

Instead, the NBA so reform the rule of jumping under a player after he has already left his feet to draw the charge. I can't tell you how many times I saw this happen throughout the playoffs this year. What's worse is that the referees award the charge! Jumping under an air-born guy like that is very dangerous to both the offensive and defensive player. Please don't award late rotations David Stern. If you want to look at floppers, look no further than your cherished LBJ and Blake Griffin. They have mastered the flop and Griffin especially of making it look like he got injured on the play when he really didn't. I'm fine with trying to get a foul called, but acting like you're hurt is for pussies. Take that to the Euro-soccer fields because that has no place in the NBA. Penalize players for acting injured and you solve the worst part of the flopping issue.

I personally don't have a problem with flopping. Perhaps it's because I'm a Spur fan and have watched Manu do it for 10 years now. But it's smart. Not everyone is as big and powerful as LeBron. Well, no one is. You have to be able to do SOMETHING to counter if it. If you can sell it, more power to you.

Mr. Smith i have almost always agreed with you but this time i'm sorry but no!!!!!!!!!!!  The NBA is the NBA because of its history of flops! Vladi. Reggie, Karl, and many many more! You want to punish a player for being a good actor no way! This life is a life of chances and if a player can convince a ref to call a foul or change the momentum of the game let it be!  Are you gonna make the NBA start changing its game like the NFL please homeboy!!!!!!!!
