Video: Matt 'Air' Bonner slam dunk champ

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

San Antonio Spurs' Matt Bonner is a fan favorite with his quirky sense of humor, and an all-around good guy image. However, on the court, he is seen as simply a three-point threat and the word "athletic" doesn't come to mind when describing his game. Or should it?

Apparently in high school, Bonner was quite the dunker. Check out video (h/t Phil over at Orlando Magic Daily for passing this along) of "Air" Bonner  showing off an array of dunks, getting some epic hang time and bringing down the house with flair. I got to say, Matt had some major hops in his younger days especially in the Kenny Smith-like dunk which sealed the contest. Now if only he can treat Spurs fans with one of these dunks in a game.

However, this  isn't the first time Bonner showed off his dunking skills. Who can forget this dunk he had on his former team Toronto?

Hope you saw the game on Friday night. Matty with the two handed dunk with authority and the rim hang. Thought he was going to get a tech. Think the young guys are drawing him out. Maybe they can help him hit 3s in the postseason?

I must say the guy was pretty athletic in his day.  As a Raptors fan, I still have much love for Bonner.  In his prime he was one of the toughest and hardest working players in the league.
