Blair tweets feelings on not playing in season opener

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

San Antonio Spurs' DeJuan Blair did not play in last night's season opener versus the Hornets (DNP-Coach's Decision) and he took to Twitter to voice his feelings.

And it did not stop there. Blair continued to share his feelings. Aside from jokingly asking if anyone has "inches" to spare so he can be taller, Blair tweeted this:

Well there you go Spurs fans. He isn't going on some huge diatribe and openly complaining about not playing last night but it is something to watch for during the season. He is in a contract season and perhaps he just wants to show he is raring to go and earn an extension with the team.

On one hand, Blair put in the work in the offseason and perhaps he was expecting to be rewarded for his efforts. On the other hand, going from a starter to getting a DNP might bother a player. But at the same time coach Popovich knows what he is doing when it comes to the rotation.

Consider this as well. With the team will play the second game off a back-to-back situation tonight against the Thunder, having a fresh Blair is on the mind of the coaching staff should they need to rest any of the other bigs.

Moreover, I do like that he is itching to get on the court. It shows he is eager to contribute towards the team's success. Besides, he is a competitive, professional athlete. How can anyone expect him to just be happy to not get playing time and ride the bench? Of couse he wants to get on the court.

But seeing how the team doesn't have much big man depth, Blair will get time on the court as the season rolls along and it could start tonight versus Oklahoma City; a team he plays very well against throughout his NBA career.

What do you have to say Spurs fans? What are your thoughts?

The guy needs a serious attitude adjustment. I can bet that any of us Spurs fans would be happy to sit on the bench for the Spurs for over $1mil a year and learn from Coach Pop and future HOF players. He has to realise that he will always be a roleplayer. If he keeps it up Uzbekistan won't take him in their league, let alone be tolerated in the Spurs organisation. His days are numbered.

Man, why can't he just shut up and wait for his turn. I'm sure he knows Pop is going to use him in some nights and other nights he'll have to sit out. Being a sore is not helping his career moving forward. Pop has a very god reputation in the league and for him to question the team's rotation will certainly add doubts to other teams who might be interested in getting his services. Get your acts together DB. As a Spurs player, we fans expects a lot from you. We believe you have "game" so don't go alienating yourself by doing listless things. You know you're better than that.

@UsernameAlvin he retweeted someone elses comment about how he should be playing because hes better than diaw.  i get venting frustration, he even said a lot of things afterwards that made sense, but retweeting what a fan says saying you are better than one of your teammates (which he is not anywhere near better than diaw) is childish, and not something this organization is about. give him away for free at this point in my opinion

But should SAS keep him seeing how they need any type of size they can get?

@JeffProjectSpurs Probably the sole reason he's still on the team, and the fact that's he's cheap. He really tried to show off his "developed" jumper tonight, haha. He belongs on the bench 75% of the game.

The way he's speaking definitely not SPUR material...well at least not the way he is acting.. completely tarnishing the teams image

I want to see this guy do well. I truly do. A better Dejuan Blair of course would help our team, or at the very least, increase his trade value.

But damnit, he's got to get rid of his Twitter feed. I mean, my lord, I stopped following him because on the rare occasion I did happen to login to tweet something, my homepage would be filled with his random, immature, stupid, and vapid musings. These tweets are just flat out unclassy.

@ryankxlu unfortunately, getting rid of his twitter would violate DeJuan's first amendment rights. However, I'm sure the Supreme Court would make an exception in this extreme case.

@CraigThomas  @ryankxlu  what amendment rights. we dont have those anymore. they violate everything we do now. the government does what it wants now. oh well back to basketball. blair should have his tweet shut down . immature ass

Pop, should either play him, trade him, or waive him.  How does Blair start off in Pop's doghouse!  Wow!  Blair's young legs should not need any saving for back-to-backs!

@prjSpurRon u get in the doghouse if you do something pop doesnt like in camp..or dont do what he says..There IS a reason

Send his ass down to the D-League and see how many tweets he can write about that. Just unbelievable. He is so immature it's embarrassing to have him on the team. How can he possibly  still be so self-centered despite being around Duncan, Ginobili, Pop, etc?

I would have pity on him if not for his horrible weight issues which show how indifferent he is to getting better and helping the team. All of this "he's really been working hard this summer!" just confirms the fact that all DeJuan cares about is the money. The reason he is getting in shape is not to help the Spurs, or show Pop what he can do, it's so he can get paid b/c it's his contract year. DeJuan is garbage and I hope FA this summer humiliates him enough that he understands it's a team game first, and a whataburger game second.

Was thinking it last night when I was skimming through his MANY tweets and retweets of people saying how unfair it was he didn't play and you say it above.  First game of back to back and second game is against an OKC team that he is supposed to be really great against.

If he doesn't play again tonight, however....that may be a sign of something to him.

@SPURSALLDAY you took the words right out of my mouth fellow spurs fan. blair needs to be quiet and realize that complaining is not the answer. he should not be tweeting about it either.if you have been a spurs fan all your life especially during the pop era, you know that pop dont like that shit. stop making the spurs look bad blair. i love your bball skills and would hate to lose you to another crappy organization but if you dont think it will go down you better ask malik rose
