Spurs Roundtable: Talking Kawhi Leonard, trade deadline

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

On the latest video of the WOAI Spurs Roundtable Michael De Leon, Paul Garcia and myself put in the spotlight San Antonio Spurs' Kawhi Leonard. We discuss his progress, the positives he brings to the team, room for improvement and more.

In the second half of the show, we talk about the looming NBA trade deadline and what the Spurs should try to trade for. Take a wild guess what that is?

All this and much more including what Project Spurs would trade for in exchange for lead writer Paul Garcia.

What do you have to say Spurs fans about Leonard and what the Spurs need as the trade deadline looms?

You guys forget when the spurs rocked the grizz at full strength the first game of the year? They have handled the clippers front court which is bigger, utahs which is the deepest front court in the league as well.  Kawhi's D and rebounding plus splitters progression has made a monstrous difference.  They still need a 7 footer for some extra size... but getting rid of any piece not named anderson bonner or rj doesnt make sense to me

Hello! Still looks like we need one, preferably two bigs to help Duncan; someone 6/10" plus who can defend/rebound/igive a breather/fouls. Does anyone know if we keep stats of POINTS ALLOWED IN THE PAINT? It seems that every team is able to penetrate at will for layups, rebounds or garbage put-packs. Course Anderson is expendable; we simply can't carry SIX players between 6'4" and 6'7" who only play as a 2 or 3! on a max 13 man roster.Does that mean R.C. has to find an even dollar swap of an older vet big somewhere to avoid Peter Holt spending more luxury tax dollars? Don't know, but is it legally doable to shed Anderson contract dollars with an early release and use the money to bring Dawson or a D-leaguer on board for the rest of the season? When they are in Austin under their D-league contract do we pay them a different higher rate for their ten day contract with the Spurs?
