Spurs bring back Dawson

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

The San Antonio Spurs have signed Austin Toros' Eric Dawson to a second 10-day contract.

The Spurs had previous signed Dawson to a 10-day contract last month and averaged 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 17.0 minutes in four games.

Dawson appeared in 24 games with the Toros this season, averaging 16.9 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.71 blocks and 1.29 steals in 29.1 minutes while shooting .556 (165-297) from the field and .779 (74-95) from the foul line. Since returning to the Toros on March 1, Dawson has averaged 19.8 points and 11.3 rebounds in six games. In his most recent game he finished with 25 points (10-19 FG, 5-7 FT), a season-high 17 rebounds and 4 steals in 35 minutes vs. Rio Grande on March 14. Dawson has posted 18 double doubles (second in the D-League) and has scored 20-or-more six times.

I'm kinda excited about Dawson. I think hr only played in the Portland blowout, but I thought he put up decent numbers for his first NBA game. Maybe he can do well and become a hometown hero. We really don't need tons of points from him, just to be defensively minded.

I'm curious also when Jackson will suit up. This road trip is going to be tough with out RJ/SJ playing the 3. I like this 10day, I think this guy got the short end on his last 10day coming at the break. I also think since the time in SA he saw what it takes and he has stepped up his game in the dleague. Get him some court time. Also let Anderson rot on the bench once jack gets suited! Anderson got his chance, no more trades, he is all but gone, see ya!

Any word on whether we can expect Capn Jack to suit up tonight? He was supposedly not even injured, and just benched by MIL.

@mrniko He's not injured, but I think the Spurs won't play him until Wednesday at home because he hasn't had any days of practice yet
