Report: Mills to Spurs a done deal

Written by Trevor Zickgraf on .

Patty MillsEarlier this week Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Spurs still intended to sign Australian guard Patty Mills and that the deal wasn't final because he was having visa issues.  Now MySA is reporting that Mills is still having visa issues but that the deal is in place.  Goodwin told the Express News that now that the process should move much faster now that an agreement has been reached.

“It shouldn’t be too much longer,” agent Aaron Goodwin told the Express-News. “There is a deal in principle. He just has to get a visa.”

Goodwin added Mills should be in San Antonio no later than a week from now.  Hopefully Mills is in uniform before that.  Last night Tony Parker left the game against Minnesota earlier because of some hamstring discomfort.  His status for Friday's game against Dallas still isn't known, but the Spurs start their first back to back to back of the season Friday.  Then they get a day off to travel to Phoenix, where they then start a back to back with the Suns and Kings.  Hopefully Mills will be around for at least the back to back in Phoenix and Sacramento.

The Spurs are still targeting recently bought out forward Boris Diaw.  The earliest he can sign with the Spurs or any other team is Friday.

I think the addition of Mills will help more than most folks think. You have to remember that Brett Brown, an assistant coach for the Spurs, is the coach of the Australian National team. Adding Diaw (if it happens) just makes us a little deeper.

So you see smart aleck it these sistuations that replacement is in order. Don't call me idiot you MORON. If both Mills and Diaw are in place, problems like TP being hurt or Bonner injured then situations like this could be avoided bonehead.

Spurs sign diaw and I say they solidify the title of deepest team in the league. Mills, diaw just add to depth like no other team. Now if we can get Orlando to buy out that bum Howard so he can sign here for the vet minimum and our title hopes are set. Could you imagine a starting 5 of TP, Manu, Jackson, TD and Blair backed up by mills, green, Leonard, bonner, splitter, backed up by Neal, and Howard as additional role players? Damn !

He'll be a solid player in the regular season who will be able to play ten minutes or so.   I don't see him playing in the playoffs.  In the play-offs i see Manu, Gary, and Jackson handling the ball when Parker is out.  Good move for the rest of regular season.  I think he'll be a nice help to get  us to back to backs and those tough stretches, that's about it.
