Popovich named Coach of the Month

Gregg PopovichSan Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was named the NBA's Western Conference Coach of the Month today.

Popovich, along with Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra received Coach of the Month honors for games played in February.

Popovich led the Spurs to an 11-2 record, tying the Heat for the most wins in February. Including their last game in January, the Spurs rattled off an 11-game winning streak, including eight straight road victories, placing them atop the Southwest division. The Spurs had just four home games in February, winning three, and posted an 8-1 mark away from AT&T Center. 

This marks the 13th time Popovich has won the award, which is also the most among current and former NBA coaches.

Congrats Mr. Pops! Why only of the month? Coach of the years seems to be more fitting!

 @rtesoro440 By year's end, I'm sure coach of the year trophy number 2 will be sitting in Pop's office. Coach of the month is merely a formality for the inevitable. Masterful job.
