Amar'e says Spurs don't have talent to compete with Knicks

Written by Kyle Boenitz on .

After a very convincing 118-105 win over the New York Knicks, there isn’t really any doubt that the San Antonio Spurs are the better team. Well, there isn’t any doubt for us normal people.

The Spurs beat the Knicks so badly yesterday, they knocked Amar’e Stoudemire into some sort of alternate universe built on delusions.

“(The Spurs) don’t have nearly enough talent to compete with us,” Stoudemire said. “Our personnel, our talent is off the charts.”

Was he watching the game he was playing in? Has he seen his team play the last couple games? OK, great, you guys had a nice win streak when Jeremy Lin busted onto the scene, but go back and look at those games and tell me which of those was a quality win. I might give you Minnesota on the road, but other than that, it was a long list of garbage.

I know Amar’e doesn’t care much for the Spurs after they knocked his Suns out of the playoffs during his best chance to win a championship, so that inspires some hateful comments, but be realistic. To say that a team “doesn’t compete” with you after they kicked your butts the night is just idiotic.

However, Amar'e did temper his comment.

"But what they do well is they keep the floor spaced and makes sure those guys execute the plays."

"That's something we've got to do, keep the floor spaced and keep the ball moving and get everyone involved."

OK thanks for the compliment Amar'e but still, your Knicks may have all the talent in the world, but that’s not what makes a team. Carmelo Anthony is one of the most talented players in the NBA, but since his return from injury, the Knicks are 2-5. They’ve quickly become one of the NBA’s biggest jokes, and this comment by Amar’e definitely won’t help.

But if the Knicks need to look to the Spurs on how to play proper ball, then as they say, imitation is the best form of flattery.

What the Knicks beat the Spurs in is knucklehead count: JR Smith, Baron Davis, Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony. Who on the Spurs counts as a certified knucklehead?

amare is such a sore loser. He just can't accept that SA has his nightmare as an NBA player. If not for Steve Nash, His stats is not as impressive as it is. The dude just can't create a play for himself. And if not for Nash's pinpoint passing he couldn't produce as many points as he come up. Very unprofessional for him to say such comments.

Carmelo= top 10 offensive talent bottom 10 defensive talent

Amar'e = top 25 offensive talent bottom 10 defensive talent

I think they are just like stat lovers and believe one-end talent is enough to win basketball games... think again!

I've been a die hard fan most of my life. When has any spur or spurs fan's ever cared about what someone has said? Amar'e can say whatever he wants. At the end of the day spurs fans no we have tons of talent. Year after year we're always the team to beat. That's something to be said for in it's self. Great job FO for putting the right talent in place to make what us real fans call a TEAM! Which wins rings. Take your talents to south beach, LA or NY, we'll bring a Talented TEAM.....year after year!

I think Amare drank the Linsanity cool aid. I didn't see all the game, but I never saw much that impressed me about Lin. Tony, however was able to drive to the basket at whim. Just remember Amare, there is no I in team, which the spurs show over and over again...

This guy needs to wake up & watch last night's game. The replay. Watch videos of the Spurs an the system, but I guess he won't ever learn his mistakes in each game that's why while he was in Phoenix he couldn't get passed the Spurs in the playoffs. Nothing but a trash talking player, never gonna get anywhere with the trash talk. Show it on the court.

@koshwayne he still thinks a team wins a title by looking like an nba fantasy team or a team on NBA 2k12.

This is such a sore loser thing to say. He couldn't box anyone out; Dejuan got so many offensive rebounds. Amare is just mad that he hasn't won a championship while the Spurs (his former rival) have.
