Video: Davis Bertans in action

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

As we reported here, Davis Bertans (selected in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers and his rights were then traded to the San Antonio Spurs) is set to do individual workouts in San Antonio and is expected to participate in next season's Spurs' training camp.

But as this workout is a progress report for the team to assess Bertans' basketball progress, not many Spurs fans have been able to see him in action. Well, you are in luck.

Recently, Bertans and his team (Partizan) were in the Serbian League Finals against Crvena Zvezda. Check out Bertans playing in Game 4 of the Finals en route to an 11 point, and three rebound game.

Keep in mind, this is the entire game, so if you really want to see Davis play, sit back and enjoy.

So what do you think Spurs fans? If you saw Davis play in the video above, what did you come away with regarding his play?

He hustles and shoots well. Needs improvement on his feet but he is very coachable. He needs massive improvement on defense. Right now he can't guard a long range jump shooter. If he gets better on defense he's going to be a quality player. He is young, I would take a chance on him. I love Bonner but if Bertans turns into a defense and rebound machine, he's going to play.

Bonner with a quicker release but not to great on defense. But again a quicker release and a good passer.

For what some people call a "very young nowitzki," he sucks.

I only saw the ist half of the game. It seems he Bertans played the ist five but when he was replaced he was never returned. He made to 2 shots along the right wing. In the defense he appears able to stand before his opponent. He appears tall but very thin.

At 6'10" he plays the 3 spot. He's skinny but so is Durant at 6'9" (although Ddurant out weighs him by 20lbs).  Just a body to put a hand in Durant's face for a couple of fouls or better yet to throw him off key when he shoots using his length. Someone to put a body on Durant to throw his rhythm off. We don't have a SF tall enough to to do this. It won't be this year or he may not even make the team but it's worth a try to look at him like they did Tony when he was 19. If becomes an NBA player and his defense improves he could be one of the guys to throw at Durant. He can torch the net as well from downtown.
