Here is yet another sign international guard Nando De Colo could be working his way to the NBA and joining the San Antonio Spurs next season.
De Colo's current team's (Valencia) Vice President, Paco Raga, spoke on whether or not De Colo will be heading to the NBA (via TuBasket.com) and stated he thinks De Colo is NBA bound.
I think he is going to the NBA. We will make an offer for him to stay but everything has a limit but I think he is determined to go to the NBA and there's nothing we can do.
Earlier this month, we reported that Nando was all but certain to join San Antonio this summer, however, a later report would state there is no deal set to bring over the standout guard.
The Spurs selected Nando in the 2009 NBA Draft and he will be playing for the French national team this summer at the London Olympic games along with Spurs' Tony Parker and Boris Diaw.
He will miss a chance to play with the Spurs' Summer League squad, seeing how he will be training for the Olympics, however, playing with and against established NBA players in London will help him should he definitively join the Spurs next season.
Got to like De Colo's determination to play in the NBA but what do you think Spurs fans? Is Nando ready? What do you like and dislike about his game?
see him more of a Manu replacement with Manu on the verge of retirement this season. We'll just see if he can step up on the NBA level.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4IdpCl4Ypw&feature=related maybe the best video from Teletovic,I'm sorry for 3 video about him,but I just want you guys to know better what kind of player he is...
Nando De Colo is an average european player, who's not at the level to play for the Spurs...I should know that, because I live in Europe and I watch his games almost every weekend...Heck,he's not even playing for a big european club...Same with Richards,no big name club,no euroleague(best competiton in Europe)...How can anyone expect anything from such players? I don't understand you guys!? Also, the best PF in Europe,Mirza Teletovic is coming to the NBA this year..Yes,he's even better then Lorbek, althoug only 6' 8-9,but with crazy range, strenght and athleticism....I know CLE and NETS,are lookig for his signing, but what about us?
I'm not sold on him. I need to watch more footage but draft express has him as "best case" another beno udric. If that's the case, no thanks. As for "pass 1st", he averages just over 3 assists per game. That's NOT pass 1st OR he has nobody on the team that can hit an open shot. His % look ok but not great. I see him more as an attempt to replace Manu not a pg backup
In that case it is better maybe to draft the likes of Terrence Ross, Will Barton or Khris Middleton or Fournier. The Spurs have the materials to draft one or 2 of them. Maybe pg like Tony Wroten.
Nando deColo has the right size to play in the nba. He is 6'5" and appears strong. Some observations have been voiced that he is slow compared to TP. He may appear slower because he is "pass first" pg. This could be good for the team. It is a variation on how they approach the game.If the Spurs are not sold to Mills and Joseph or these guys are traded, yes of course deColo is more than welcome to join. The height problem encountered by TP during the western finals could be addressed.
@rtesoro440 If anything, he is closer in his style to Manu than to Parker. So just like Manu things may not be what they are, at least athletically. He could appear to be slow but still great.
Then he could be a combo guard? Well, so much the better. He can play both guard positions.Anyway, this way there is a variation of play!
