Spurs' Joseph named Summer League All-Star

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

San Antonio Spurs' Cory Joseph was named to the 2012 Summer League All-Star squad today.

Joseph showed much improvement from his rookie season at the Summer League and averaged 17 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists, shot 47% from the field in five games in 33 minutes per game. Though he did average 3.4 turnovers per game.

His best performance came in a 86-80 loss to the Clippers where he scored 22 points, handed out six assists, and grabbed four rebounds in 34 minutes.

Congratulations Joseph. Well deserved.

I think CJ and Mills & Nando are going to have a deathmatch during training camp for backup point guard. I'm sure we'll find out who wins at the beginning of the season.

@Spursfan66 So he tore it up in in the DL and now in the Summer League too. So the dilemma is, if he comes into camp and continues these performances what does PATFO do with him? Send him back down to Austin? Make a trade and make room for him in the process? Trade him? I know there are a lot of CoJo haters but even they have to start admitting this kid could be pretty good. We already have three good 1's, and three good 2's... To bad we don't have three good 4's and three good 5's...

@imwithstupid Ya all good questions/points. Might be that nando gets more PT at 2 guard (personally I think Neal may be half way gone already) It's the Bo story that REALLY makes it look like a trade is in the works imo. I think even with CJs obvious improvement, Patty is still likely the backup at PG this year. And it really wouldn't surprise me to see FO want CJ to get even more Toro time as it seems to really be helping him (will get MUCH more PT there again) All in all, very hard to see what may happen
