Spurs' Brett Brown likes Spain's chances vs. Team U.S.A.

Australian head coach and San Antonio Spurs assistant coach, Brett Brown, knows first hand how good Team Spain can be in these Olympic Games. His team, along with Spurs' Patty Mills, faced Spain in pool play and lost 82-70 behind great defense from Spain.

And while the American squad is the hands-down favorite, many feel the Spanish team could hand the U.S. a loss including Brown.

"You step back and look at the depth of their roster, the history of the program, the age of their players. They are ripe to, in my opinion, have a legitimate chance of knocking the United States off."

Indeed Spain does have a shot at defeating the U.S.

They have the size with Pau and Marc Gasol, and Serge Ibaka. They have quick guards such as Jose Calderon and a solid supporting cast which includes Rudy Fernandez. This team has the chemistry, Olympic experience and the drive to not only capture Olympic gold, but prove Team U.S.A. isn't invisible as many point out. But while the U.S. lacks size against Spain, they do have speed, athleticism, and have already beat the Spaniards in exhibition play, though Marc Gasol did not play in that loss.

So far, Spain (2-0) has played China and Australia in pool play while the Americans (1-0) have defeated France and will take on Tunisia today. Spain was tested in both their games while the U.S. took out a struggling French squad.

One this is for sure, should these two teams meet in the gold  medal game, it will sure be one exciting game.

What do you think Spurs fans? Think Brown is right about Spain's chances versus the U.S.?

I think it will be a good game... but the U.S. will take the Gold yet again this year. I don't see anyone beating this U.S. team.

Who will stop Durant? Who will stop LBJ? Who will score on Tyson Chandler? I don't understand the "lack of size" argument against the U.S. We are long at virtually every position and more athletic than any other team.
