Per Valenica, De Colo coming to San Antonio on 2-year deal (Update)

Written by Paul Garcia on .

In the last 24-hours, the San Antonio Spurs have taken the lead in free agency news over the DwightND Howard drama by agreeing to terms with Tim Duncan, Boris Diaw, Danny Green, and Patty Mills.

Now De Colo himself has told Valencia, his former Spanish team, that he'll be coming to San Antonio on a two-year deal.

For Nando, "is a great honor to get to the Spurs, but never forget the three years I played in Valencia"

Update 7/10, 5:48 PM CST: According to the French website L'Equipe (H/T Air Alamo), De Colo's deal is for 2.8 million dollars over two years. The report also states that FC Barcelona was offering more money to De Colo, but he wanted to live his dream and play in the NBA.

Per his twitter, De Colo himself tweeted a picture of him in San Antonio and said in French it'll be a new challenge playing with the Spurs.

Though there are no details of how much De Colo will earn in the new deal, Yahoo! Sports' Johnny Ludden stated in his Duncan article that the Spurs did indeed intend to bring De Colo over for this coming season.

With De Colo signing with the Spurs, he's essentially taken the slot left behind by James Anderson which will put the Spurs at 14-players under contract, assuming the team signs rookie Marcus Denmon.

There's still one spot open for possibly the veteran's minimum, but there isn't much money left to sign a key free agent.

2.8 mil/2 yrs seems reasonable imo..and the fact that its been reported that he had better euro offer tells me he's ready for the REAL challenge (NBA) and has some fire/cajones..THAT I like..the ANTI-Lorbek. hehe

So depending on how much this is, and mills, and how the other deals are structured, the spurs are looking somewhere between 67-70 mil with 14 players. Under the tax so wouldn't they still have the full mid level exception to sign a 15th? Maybe trade bonner and Blair for Kaman (s&t) and use the mid to help eat his new deal
