Neal back in San Antonio (did he even leave?)

Written by Trevor Zickgraf on .

Gary Neal may have just broken the record for shortest run in the D-League. The San Antonio Spurs recalled Neal from the Toros back to San Antonio. Here's the official statement:

The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have recalled Gary Neal from the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League. Neal was assigned to the Toros on January 2 for a medical rehab assignment after undergoing an appendectomy on December 12, 2011.

That's right at 24 hours for Neal's assignment in Austin. No word on if he was even in Austin for any period of time. This is obviously a reaction to Manu Ginobili's injury. With James Anderson moving in to the starting role you can expect Neal to be the first guard off the bench sooner than later. I can't imagine he's in great shape yet, but every little bit will help in filling the void Manu leaves behind for the next 4-6 weeks.

Neal is not superman. If the spurs make additions, make it pf/c. Diogu can help but not enough. Spurs playing for next draft?

Teams play to win. I am sure they aren't trying to get higher pick tbh. The spurs will most likely still make the playoffs though, unless more injuries happen. @rtesoro440
