Spurs vs. Hornets: A look at the shot-chart

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

The San Antonio Spurs (15-9) picked up another win at home last night defeating the New Orleans Hornets (4-19) 93-81. San Antonio was led by Tim Duncan's 19 points and 9 rebounds while New Orleans was led by Carl Landry with 17 points.

With the win, the Spurs continue to dominate teams at the AT&T Center (12-1) and will next face the Oklahoma City Thunder tomorrow night in San Antonio before the annual Rodeo Road Trip.

But taking a look at the shot clock, it is plain to see the Spurs did most of their damage in the paint. San Antonio outscored New Orleans in the paint 42-38 thanks in large part to Duncan and Tiago Splitter who finished with 16 points with all of his points coming in the paint.

They say pictures speak a thousand words, so check out the shot-chart (via ESPN) to see how the Spurs were able to swat the Hornets.

For the 2nd time the spurs will lose to the thunders. The thunders have too many big men. Who will guard Durant, Leonard? He's unseasoned and small. The thunders have other players, Ibaka, Collison, Harden, Westbrook and Perkins. How will all these players be guarded? Iwonder!

Wow wow slow down here playa ur going too fast in a school zone! First things first, u cannot stop players like Durant u can force him into bad shoots make him take tough shots! I aka is way overrated and some of the other players feed off Westbrook and Durant so we need force them into tough situations while thunder are favorite to win this game u just never kno that's why the games are played! We got a couple of guys that can play well too tho@rtesoro440

Anyone else get the impression the spurs where just toying with the hornets for the 1st 40 minutes or so? Keep it close, keep it interesting then bam knock them out. That's the way the game seemed to me all night. Like pop told everyone to just go easy on the pour old hornets till it mattered then finish them off. Kinda like a cat with a mouse. Not Tom and jerry or itchy and scratchy either!
