Manu's return "likely" for Saturday

Written by Trevor Zickgraf on .

The San Antonio Spurs have been without Manu Ginobili for about five weeks now and they've done alright without him.

First we found out after the Memphis game from Coach Pop that he expected Manu back within the next week.  Now the San Antonio Express News is reporting that Manu tried to play tonight against Philadelphia and is "likely" to return Saturday when the Spurs play the Nets.

According to the report, Manu was trying to walk on to the court tonight against Philly, but Pop wanted to get him some five on five practice time.  The Spurs have two days off in between tonight's game and the Jersey game (the first time this has happened all season, by the way) and will have time to get a practice in.

Tonight's win would go a long way to getting the Spurs off to a great start on the Rodeo Road Trip.  If they win tonight, they get three games against teams with a combined 22 wins and 56 losses before they begin the west coast swing of the trip.

It was also announced that Danny Green will get his first career start tonight.

What's the word on TJ Ford's return? Any dates set?

@Big_Whit Pop hasn't given a T.J. update in a bit. I know he said he wants to be more cautious with T.J. because of how tricky hamstrings can be.

Hope it will not affect the chemistry of the team. They are used to playing without him.

I'd rather Manu come back after the AS game. No need to rush anything since the team is playing great without him.
