Stephen Jackson targets Monday for return to the court

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

The San Antonio Spurs are limping along early in the regular season with Kawhi Leonard, Stephen Jackson and Manu Ginobili suffering various injuries. Ginobili suffered a left thigh contusion in last night's win over Boston and is questionable for the upcoming game versus the Thunder. But the team might be seeing Jackson back on the court.

According to Jackson, he is targeting Monday's clash with Oklahoma City for his return.

Jackson suffered a broken finger in his right hand back in November versus the Clippers and was expected to be out 4-6 weeks.

Though Jackson says he will be back Monday, it will ultimately be up to the Spurs training staff to make the final call.

Prior to the injury, Jackson was averaging 7.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 assist. Should Jackson be back Monday, he will be a welcomed sight considering Leonard will still be out of action and Ginobili dealing with his injury.

I don't know how Kawhi's injury was released as having him out for 10-14 days, yet it's been over a month. Tendonitis isn't SEVERE and Kawhi is young. One of my friends in high school got tendinitis in BOTH knees, and I remember him being back on the basketball team like 2 weeks later. If Kahwi isn't playing in our 4 game home stand after tuesday, then he's either being lazy and taking a personal vacation, or his injury is a lot worse than we all thought.

Will the Spurs repeat vs the Thunder? I go for the Spurs but, the way they played against the Jazz and Blazers is it highly doubtful. With Leonard still down that leaves Jackson guarding Durant and the Thunders have a deeper, younger and taller frontcourt..Good Luck anyway! Go Spurs.

Isn't Kawhi's injury not serious at all? Why has he been out for over a month now when it was originally expected to be 10 days?
