Roundtable: Spurs Olympic performances (Video)

Written by Michael A. De Leon on .

After a month-long break, this week we are back with a new episode of the Roundtable powered by Project Spurs.

On this episode, Jeff Garcia, Bob Gambert and I analyzed the performances of the six players that participated in the Olympics. We came away very impressed, as always, by Manu Ginobili and feel Patty Mills might have raised his stock a bit with great poise and leadership with Australia that could lead to a bigger role next season.

After discussing all six players, we talked about the latest rumors involving Wizards free agent Andray Blatche possibly coming to the San Antonio Spurs. We talked about Blatche's previos troubles on and off the court, but said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich would be the coach to rein him in.

To finish off the show, we talked about the Dwight Howard trade and what the Spurs will have to do to adjust to that trade and compete next season.

Thanks, as always, to Bob and the News4WOAI production team for their work in producing the show.

Sure on paper they new Lakers look scary, but I've read that DH may not even start the team until Jan/Feb with his back surgery. So until then they cannot play with their "twin tower" mode which gives teams fits. Plus, they have half a season to gel everyone together for the finals. I'm sure they will make the playoffs, but you can't say for sure anyone will make the finals (take last year's playoffs for example). And is Dwight thaaat big of an upgrade form Bynum anyway? I think its a trade of one crazy for another, maybe a slightly better crazy, but still crazy. However, Nash is what makes them much more effective to me, as long and he and Kobe can coexist. With Nash facilitating, they now have a distributor that isn't afraid to look to players other than Kobe. And we no longer have Bynum to shoot 3's....

Patty Mills was the #1 scorer in the Olympics beating out Durant and Ginobili. He scored the most points in one game during the Olympic tournament with 39, beating out Carmelo Anthony who scored 37 earlier in the olympics. I don't think that's something to laugh about........

My favorite part is when Stephen says that Skip is being "so disrespectful" because he says that Nash is old, but then Stephen laughs at the Spurs because one of their player's names is Patty.

Eh, all I can say is that it's nothing new with these two.
