Report: Spurs to scout guard Faisal Aden

Written by Paul Garcia on .

As if the San Antonio Spurs weren't already stacked at the guard positions with seven guards on roster, it seems they recently inquired about another one.FA

In an interview with HoopsWorld.com, the agent of undrafted guard Faisal Aden revealed that the Spurs were one team who inquired about Aden.

“The Washington Wizards, San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors all inquired recently about Faisal and will be following his progress going forward,” Pensack said.

Why was Aden, a former Washington State Cougar 6'4" guard, who ended his senior season scoring 14.5 points per game while shooting 47% from the field undrafted? According to HoopsWorld, Aden suffered a season ending ACL tear just after being named the National Player of the Week.

In the interview, Aden discussed with H.W. how he's stayed mentally tough in trying to rehab and get himself back onto the court. For those Spurs fans who have been tired about hearing about guards and not a big man, Aden plans to play overseas this coming season before hoping to possibly try to earn his chance in the NBA. Though, the Spurs will now be a team to possibly continue scouting Aden in the future.

Aden will be making his professional debut this upcoming season with Belgium’s Stella Artois Leuven. He’s joining the team this weekend, and while he was thrilled to have NBA teams calling about him, he’s excited to have the opportunity in Belgium to immediately start playing and improving his game.

Ok seriously, now I'm beginning to believe that the spurs organization is looking for a solid replacement for Tony Parker with all this undersized guard scouting. I mean, the spurs haven't even attempted to go after the one thing the need the MOST, a young big guy. Apparently Tiago Splitter is still the #1 guy for the job.

Ugh

 @ajd21 Can't be sure Spurs haven't made attempts for big man since spurs don't release that info. Even with our guys that got resigned, we didn't hear a peep about that until day before it happened. Also, there is a rumor that Spurs are trying to work a trade with Houston atm to land Patrick Patterson..and there's also the Blatche rumor. (and not surprisingly, none of these reports originate from Spurs camp)

can the spurs just sign/sign&trade for donte greene on anthony tolliver already? i know greenes played more as a sf but hes 6'11 and can cause mismatches. in all honesty these are the only two forwards left worth looking at that have range and could fit into the offense.

 @aespurs

 Only if the price is right! Tolliver once played with the Spurs. Donte Green can create mismatches only if he is ever used.

 @rtesoro440 well yeah thats why i put the /sign&trade cause theres no way the spurs are going over the luxury tax just to sign one of these guys. lol.

Hey Mr. Salazar, didn't I tell the Spurs are fun of 6'1" - 6'5" players. Look, they interested in Aden Faisal . 8 guards and counting. What can you say? Ha ha ha

 @rtesoro440 lol spurs are "fun" of? Please tell me you didn't attend school in USA rt. Otherwise, read the article, it CLEARLY says he's under contract in Belgium. Do you understand what scouting means? Obviously, if it's true, Spurs are just SCOUTING him for the FUTURE. Try to keep up junior.
