DeJuan Blair looking svelte
Written by Jeff Garcia on .
DeJuan Blair has seemingly struggled with the battle of the bulge since entering the NBA. It has even gotten to the point where San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich quipped about Blair's expanding waist line and his taste for fast-food burgers.
And now that the Spurs seem intent on trading Blair, perhaps it is serving as motivation for DeJuan as he is looking quite svelte lately.
Blair shared a photo of him recently and it is safe to say, he is slimming down and looking like he is ready to go wherever he may play next season. Check it out.

With Blair probably not going to be in a Spurs uniform next season (then again with the Lakers acquiring Dwight Howard, the Spurs can use another big body), it seems whichever team adds him to their roster, will get a sleeker, faster Blair.
But with the all-around play of Boris Diaw (who can also stand to drop some pounds), Blair will only continue to ride the bench instead of starting like he used to in past seasons. So him on another team will only serve to help his become a better player.

We should do this trade and then sign Blathe... yeah a pipe dream but now that Howard didn't went to Atlanta, and is the last year of Smith contract is very probable that Smith will not sign with them next year so why not.. and is Ferry their gm now.
and if the rumors of Casspi wanted to be waived a trade for Blair it seems fair to me
Duncan/Blatche
Smith/Diaw/Bonner
Leonard/Casspi
Green/Ginobili/De Colo
Parker/Mills/De Colo/ Joseph :D
Blatche for me is more a Center than a PF, i don't se him making pick and rolls and spacing the floor with a midrange shot and he has good size to be a Center.
I have always loved DeJuan Blair. He always seemed upbeat, smiling and played hard and worked like the devil to rebound the ball. DON'T TRADE HIM. Diaw is no prize and a bully to boot as has a rep for being a dirty player.
@SuePoggenseeStone His rebounds dropped last year..and most people liked him at first..Then he continued coming in too fat, barely improved anything, or not at all, and smiling doesn't help the team. Pee Wee Herman smiles a lot, but I don't want him to b a spur. And Diaw was clearly the better choice over DJB. And Diaw dirty? I have NEVER heard anything even close to that..source?
I remember reading the exakt same thing last season. Probably also the only other time I've seen the word svelte - which is why I remember that article. DB shed quite a few pounds between seasons last year also, after Pop called him on the whole burger thing.
But I can agree with you - having been a starter for one of the NBA's most dominant teams should be enough motivation to work hard to try and keep that spot, not to try and regain it after it seems lost.
@JohanBeijer Ya, he lost some last summer too..then porked out again in next few months..I'm sure he gets on the road and eats junk food etc.
Does anybody know anything about hassan whiteside ? just looking at his stats ( last year and summer league) he average a block nearly every five min. I wouldn't mind a 7 footer blocking shots next to timmy. Our defense would be awesome. All the wing guys already can play D. Imagine if they had a 7 footer to funnel their guy to. any thoughts?
@mjs2377 Knocks on him are he needs more strength, TERRIBLE free thrower (like 40% bad), next to no offense, low bb IQ, not a good passer, TO prone. He is athletic and could eventually be decent, but it looks like that will take time, if ever. Being waived by Kings says something too. Project
Personally, I can't STAND any player that seems to put in much more effort in a contract year. Where was that dedication the 3 years before?
We will see if the rumored trade with Houston goes down next week. Legally they can't make the trade until after the 27th.
@isaacd35 From what I've heard we give meal/blair for Patterson from Houston. It looks like Toronto is involved somehow. I think Blair goes to them and Houston gets neal and draft picks.
@spursfan80 @Spursfan66 @isaacd35 Possibly, but they also only have Lamb and Kmart as SGs..and like I said, they want rid of Kmart. And given Neal's tiny contract, it's unlikely he'd get waived imo. And they have 20 on roster now and 5 have non-guaranteed deals that can be cut any time
@Spursfan66 @isaacd35 nah, Houston has 25 players next season. They like neal's unprotected contract so they can dump some players...
@isaacd35 @spursfan80 I dont think salaries would be close enough..even with neal added, it's still about $190k short of PPs salary (but close enough to work in trade machine)
Biggest thing is though that I highly doubt Rox want DJB..they already have like 10 "bigs"..It's Neal they supposedly like..probably to replace Kmart who they are rumored to be trying to trade. That's likely why a 3rd team is rumored to be involved (+ Im sure rox want more picks too) If no 3rd team gets in, I highly doubt we get PP
That trade sounds pretty good, but I would rather trade blair straight up for patterson, but I don't think houston is that stupid.
@ajd21 http://forums.hoopshype.com/forums/index.php?topic=76187.0 And I think I saw something on poundingtherock.com Like I said, its just a rumor at this point, but because of when rookie contracts were signed they have to wait until the 27th before they can be traded...
If he does not get traded this is the best way to compete for minutes. get your head down and work hard DB! I'm rooting for ya
