Back in June it was reported on Project Spurs, by Jeff Garcia, Davis Bertans had suffered a tear in his right ACL in a game versus Crvena Zvezda during the Serbian League Finals.
After flying to San Antonio to consult with San Antonio Spurs about his knee treatment, he went ahead with procedure on his right knee.
Yesterday, Bertans sent out the following two tweets, regarding his recovery from the procedure and all seems to be progressing nicely.
It's been 7 weeks post surgery, and i just started shooting jumpshots, feeling good and still knocking those 3's down :)— Davis Bertans (@DBertans_44) August 19, 2013
This injury makes me realise how much i really love this game!!! #GettingStronger— Davis Bertans (@DBertans_44) August 20, 2013
While playing this season for Partizan he scorched the nets shooting 47.1% during the Euroleague and 44.6% during the Adriatic League, while free throw shooting 62.5% and 75.0% respectively will need to improve if he wishes to see the floor when he comes to San Antonio.
So Spurs’ fans what are you expectations for when for Davis putting on a Spurs’ jersey?
I like Bertans. He's not even drinking age yet, so there's still room for him to grow and get stronger. We can always question the competition, but the kid has good on-court instincts, is very athletic for a lanky frame, and plays hard on both ends of the floor. I think he might end up being a better NBA player than many Spurs fans imagined. There was not one lottery pick this year that did not have some obvious flaws in his game. Bertans has comparable talent to most of this year's 1st and 2nd round draft choices.
@Spursfan66 Crystal ball, UGLY FACE? Bertans stands at 6'10" and he could have helped the Spurs.
@Spursfan66 True that. And wish they had the technology back in the day they have now in medicine. Incredible.
@gymbear @Spursfan66 It really is. I have a cousin that years ago was set to make the Phillies and right before camp he had his achilles sliced by an exploding Coke bottle and there was just no fixing it back then and that ended his career before it began. Now these guys can not only get back, but get back fast.
I agree. Just mentioned MB because that's what others in media try to compare him to. The stuff I've seen the kid do shows me he has much greater upside than that. Like the athleticism of the French kid we drafted too. Personally excited about our young Euros
@gymbear Yeah, the idiot writers at the SA Express seem to have very low opinion of all of our stashed guys. I really don't understand how a SA news group hires guys who like everyone else's team but their own. They all picked both the Warriors, Memphis and the Heat during the payoffs. What's that all about ?
@jojo707 @gymbear Yeah-don't get it. I trust Pop and RC and to me, when they are bringing Hanga and Bertans over here to check on them and their development, that speaks volumes. I think the guys at MySA have yet to come to terms with the fact their medium is about dead. Not doing themselves any favors by not doing what Project Spurs and Hoops Hype and others do-produce daily stories. It's not that hard. Just have to be willing to work. Errrr..that may be the problem over there:)
If you watch Dirks game at 25yrs old, Bertrans has more going for him than Dirk did at that age. He really needs about 20lbs. He is no way similar to MB. The only similarity is he is white European. No one knows what he can become, any more than at 25, no one could predict how good Dirk would be, certainly not league MVP.
Davis is going to be a better version of Bonner. He's able to put the ball on the floor-has a good handle and has ridiculous shooting range and pretty nice hops and athleticism. He's still a kid and I have no doubt he'll heal well, and by time he comes to SA he'll be a solid, not spectacular player. He and Hanga will both be a big part of Spurs future. Kawhi will be 'The Man,' and that's a great thing. I love Bertans game. Again, he's still a KID.
Zilch! Damaged Goods! Guy ain't going nowhere now. Maybe he rides the pine in 2 yrs. Nice knowin ya PASS!!!!!
