Spurs recall Joseph from Toros

The San Antonio Spurs have recalled rookie point guard Cory Joseph from their D-League affiliate Austin Toros.

Joseph, a 6-3 guard, has been assigned to Austin three times this season, most recently on March 20. Since then he has helped lead the Toros to the D-League Finals. In the playoffs, Joseph is averaging 11.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.29 steals in 34.3 minutes through seven games.  During the regular season, he saw action in 14 games for Austin, averaging 13.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.29 steals in 32.9 minutes. Joseph was named the D-League Performer of the Week for the week of March 19-25. The former Texas Longhorn recorded a triple-double with 15 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists in a 122-82 win over the Maine Red Claws on March 23

Joseph has seen action in 27 games for the Spurs this season, averaging 1.7 points and 1.1 assists in 7.6 minutes.

Joseph will be available tonight when the Silver and Black visit the Phoenix Suns.

Though this will be a good experience for Joseph to see just how intense the NBA playoffs can be, it does hurt the Toros' chances at capturing their first D-League championship. Currently, Austin is facing the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the D-League Finals and are down 0-1 in the series.

Adding Joseph to the roster will shore up the guard position (considering Gary Neal was injured against Portland) heading into the playoffs this Saturday versus their likely first-round opponent Utah Jazz.

It would be nice to have D-League and NBA championship in the same year.

It will definitely hurt the toros, but I am curious if his success with the toros will transfer to the spurs since he's had more quality time running the spurs plays. It should be interesting if he gets decent minutes.

Joseph recalled and a guy named derrick bryar was signed by the spurs for tonight's gam against the suns. But the toros are playing for the champioship in the d-league why pullout joseph now? He is needed there than by the spurs.

I guess they are required to have so many players but I'm not sure about this move. He isn't going to get more then garbage minutes, but the toros NEED him
