Spurs' Anderson continues stellar play at Impact League

Written by Jeff Garcia on .

San Antonio Spurs' James Anderson continues to turn heads at the Impact League out in Vegas as photo: si.comday three is in the books.

Anderson finished with 20 points, shot 8/12 from the field, 1/2 from the three-point line, 1/3 from the free-throw line, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal for Team Royal.

Here have been his stat lines from the past two days:

• Day 1: 19 points, 7/10 from the field
Day 2: 24 points, 11/12 from the field

It's another great performance but should Spurs fans take his great play as a sign of good things to come from the young man?
It is a testament to Anderson for coming back after an injury set him back last season. It is beneficial to him to get on the court against NBA talent and to keep the rust off his game. But this is a league where the cream of the crop players are absent.

And in case you were wondering, there were no stats on Kawhi Leonard or if he played at all.

So what do you make of Anderson's performance so far Spurs fans? Think it will translate into next season or is this lightning in a bottle?

JA can definitely score, once the Big 12 Conference Player of the Year, All-Big 12 First Team, this guy knows how to put the ball into the nets. Hope he can learn some defense too

It's good to see some above average stat lines from Anderson here. Considering there's probably a lack of defense... A good shooter would be shooting above 50%. Anderson is nailing it by shooting great considering the competition. Also hopefully he's scoring in a variety of ways. The expectation is a young shooter who can drive, handle the ball and play good defense without injury! Manu will need a break if the season starts on time and I would hand the ball to Anderson to give him a shot.

@JeffProjectSpurs@KrisPittman definitely a good thing that he is getting the time to make himself a better shooter and stay in game shape. i know he's probably been itching to play some good minutes after his injury set him back.

HOLY CRAP do the spurs just have something against free throw shooting? seems like every single "name" we get cant hit their FTs? i blame tim duncan, because robinson was a good FT shooter, duncan brought his hitch and now everyone sucks HA!

im not putting much stock in these games. its nice to see lines but its like summer league to me where neal put up ridiculous numbers then came in to hit some shots but wasnt a 20+ ppg guy like the summer league.

@JohnAbney Maybe it's time for Pop to fire Chip England and hire Mark Price as the new FT shooting guru.
