Former NBA player and teammate of basketball legend Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen made waves with his comment that he considers Miami Heat's LeBron James the best player to ever play in the NBA.
As crazy as that might sound, that is what Pippen said. Don't believe me? Read for yourself:
“Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to play the game,” Pippen said. “But I may go as far as to say LeBron James may be the greatest player to ever play the game because he is so potent offensively that not only can he score at will but he keeps everybody involved. You have to be on your Ps and Qs on defense. No guy on the basketball court is not a threat to score with LeBron James out there. Not only will LeBron dominate from the offensive end as well, but he’s also doing it on the defensive end which really makes him the complete package. He’s able to get in those passing lanes, shoot those gaps and create transition opportunities where he is pretty much unstoppable.”
Please excuse the rough translation from the translator tool but San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker chimed in and as expected, thinks Pippen is 100% wrong:
"I do not know what he smoked before! There is no picture, the question does not arise: Jordan is and will always be the best player ever,"
Got to agree with Parker. No way is James is or will be the best player to ever play the game. Jordan is the pinnacle of what all players hope to be.
What do you have to say Spurs fans?
yeah i agree with pippen coz he knows well how michael jordan played. Jordan was a crocodile over his career. He scores at will without sharing the ball just like the black crocodile mamba (Kobe Bryant)..Lebron is all around animal, crocodile, mammoth, rhino, beast or super kingkong whatever you can name it. Lebron is different athletic player who can pass, shoot and defend. Lebron's triple threat may always be the real tool to success.
I heard Kobe's name in the discussion too, but he's 5,000 pts behind MJ with 31 more games played (if we're going by points). I miss the way MJ used to celebrate too, he was cocky but not too much chest pounding. The tongue was enough haha.
@JeffProjectSpurs @JakeFaunce You gotta wonder how much drama there is behind the scenes between Pippen and MJ. I know one guy that would never make that ridiculous statement - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUi2qMO7IfY&feature=related
Sounds like Pippen is pretty spiteful. I doubt Dwayne Wade will say the next great player is better then Lebron.
