On the minds of many San Antonio Spurs fans is the question whether head coach Gregg Popovich should be resting players as the playoffs near or clinch the overall number one seed in the NBA playoffs.
With only two games left in the regular season for the Spurs, they have already locked up the number one seed in the Western Conference playoffs, but what does Popovich have to say on the subject?
Please Pop rest the starters! Lose to LA if we must. If LA beats our bench it's like they continue their losing streak. Beating the second unit gives them no confidence, and no answers to fix the slump they are in. Then they play Sacramento ... Even if they win, they cannot feel good about beating such a weak team. In essence, they end the season playing 7 worthless games. Rest Spurs Rest!
@Andrews excellent point rest and be ready for the playoffs! That is what the Spurs must do! Go Spurs Go!
If the Spurs beat the Lakers tomorrow they can potentially wound up number 4 in the West. I'm not sure if the Spurs would like that scenario in the playoffs.
@Andrews I think the Spurs should try to avoid the Lakers early in the playoffs. Not that they are afraid of them but because it's a good strategy. I believe resting the starters at this point is more important to make sure they are fresh and healthy once the playoff arrives.
i think pop should play the starters a little and hope the bench gives us what we need 2 win in LA and hope LA drops 2 third seed
