The San Antonio Spurs will work out Justin Holiday out of Washington.
Holiday is a 6'6", 185 lbs., guard/forward and averaged 10.5 points, shot 46.5% from the field, 35.9% from the three-point line, 77.2% from the free-throw line, 5.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.2 steals in 28.3 minutes for the Huskies last season.
Holiday is known for his defense. He averaged 5.2 rebounds, finished with 41 steals and 38 blocks.
"I go and show teams my game," he said. "My main strength is defense so I go and make sure I show that I can defend. That's the main reason why they bring me in.
"Then when they see that I can defend, I want to show I can do other things as well. But at the end of the day, all you can do is do your best. Put it all out there and hope that's enough to win a job."
More on Holiday and his scoring ability:
His ability to knock down perimeter shots with his feet set on a consistent basis will likely be a big factor in whether or not he's able to land a spot on an NBA roster, since he's very limited as a scorer otherwise. He'll undoubtedly be working hard on this aspect of his game up until draft day as he'll need to convince NBA decision-makers in his workouts that his early season shooting was no fluke. He's obviously put some work in to make the progress he has over the last few years, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him continue to improve. (draftexpress.com)
Well Spurs fans, seems Holiday might be a perimeter defender the Spurs also need aside from their need for a center. Holiday could fill that role but what do you think Spurs fans?
seems a little more like a small bowen then most of the guys mentioned, the real question is do we need size inside or perimeter defense more? i am kind of leaning toward needing a big more after the memphis debacle. if there is not a decent big when the spurs are on the clock im ok with a guy like this, but not my 1st choice.
@JohnAbney I agree we need size but a close 2nd for me is a legit perimeter efender. Hill is OK but not the type of defender we need.
@JeffProjectSpurs @JohnAbney i agree with Jeff. it's a good close 2nd. i think Hill does a great job at defending, but it's just the lack of size. he can get away with guarding SGs, but i think this Holiday guy would help us in guarding the likes of SFs such as LeBron and Pierce. what is Holiday projected at?
@RG8907 @JeffProjectSpurs here is the thing, he isnt a 1st round talent, and there have been some talk (from what i can find on him) that the lakers may take a chance on him in the 2nd round. the lakers have 4 second round picks and all of them are ahead of the spurs. that said, IF he falls to 59 then by all means go for it. i mean MANU anyone? i also didnt realize he was the OLDER brother of jrue holiday who has been a nice piece for the 76ers. other then that, i cant find this kid on any single mock draft in any spot.
