With the NBA lockout in full swing, international players who want to play this summer at pre-Olympic qualifiers are looking to be insured. Otherwise, they might not play.
However, this wait might be over for Ginobili.
According to canchallena.com, Ginobili, along with fellow NBA players, Luis Scola, Andres Nocioni, and Carlos Delfino, the Argentina Basketball Confederation will insure their NBA stars just in time for training camp and the tournament in Argentina next month:
"Somehow we're going to solve and the NBA will have its safe to play in the selection." The expected statement emerged last night Germain mouth Vaccaro, president of the Argentina Basketball Confederation (CABB), which for several days in constant negotiations with different companies to get together over half a million dollars and to address policies that Argentine stars need to participate in the Pre-Olympic training and Mar del Plata, which begins on 30 August.
According to accounts, the Confederation would pay $ 543,283 for Scola, Delfino, Ginobili and Nocioni, to which must be added the insurance of the other players, including some also high, such as Pablo Prigioni and Hernan Jasen, working in Spain.
If true, then this will be great news for Ginobili who is itching to get Argentina into the 2012 London games. Not only that, it protects the Spurs All-Star guard in case of injury. Something which weighs heavily on Spurs fans' minds.
