Parker, De Colo demolish Canada in exhibition

Written by Paul Garcia on .

TPAs we reported yesterday, San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker and France had an exhibition game against France earlier today in which the French demolished Canada 106 to 44.

Yes, you read that right, 62 points.

Parker had 10 points and eight assists off 4 of 7 shooting in 24 minutes of action.

San Antonio Spurs' draftee Nando De Colo who also plays with France had 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists of his own. He shot 4 of 7 too while going 1 of 3 from beyond the arc.

The French were led by Charlotte's Boris Diaw who had 16 points and six rebounds. Portland's Nicolas Batum and New York's Ronny Turiaf each chipped in nine points as well.

Canada really needed some help as they only made 16 of 55 shots in the game. They better hope Spurs draftee Cory Joseph gets his insurance issue cleared, Matt Bonner becomes naturalized, and Tristan Thompson changes his mind and decides to play for the Canadians.

Both teams will resume action once again tomorrow as they face each other for another friendly.

Addendum: The spurs has been a bit unlucky with their past draftees. While some draftees warm the bench surprisingly when they are waived or traded they contribute to their new teams Take Luis Scola, Goran Dragics and Ian Mahinmi and I am sure George Hill will. Are their others? Is it being unlucky or poor judgment or misreading of the value and talent of these players. Is this true in the case of Nando deColo?

It must 2 or 3 years ago when the spurs drafted N. deColo. He even participated in one las vegas summer league but, not able to break the line-up. They spurs need a back-up point guard. Perhaps, they should take a second look at deColo. Infact, he is currently playing with TP in France so he could scout on the improvement of deColo. He has not played professional basketball in the US so a rookie. His play could be molded in their system. If my memory serves me right, he stands 6'5" with nba body, and a legitimate point guard. Based on the article above, he can shoot beyond the arc which seems to be desirable to the spurs and he must be 24 yrs old or even older by now, also preferred by mgnt and coaching staff. Otherwise, they should waive him now and maybe other nba teams could test his talents and jump into the nba.
