After it was reported that Erazem Lorbek was seriously thinking about heading to the NBA and joining the San Antonio Spurs, it would appear this may not be happening.
According to sport.es, Lorbek is looking to sign a two-year extension with his current team Regal FC Barcelona:
Lorbek said he was in the middle of negotiations with Barcelona to extend the contract. Joining the two concepts is clear that these talks are very close to completion with the player's contract extension until June 30, 2014.
As you may recall, his rights were acquired in a draft day deal with the Indiana Pacers. With the Spurs owning h is rights, Lorbek did say the possibility of joining the Spurs was interesting to him.
This news does not bode well for the Spurs and Lorbek. He is getting up in age (27) and with the Spurs looking to add size, it would appear Lorbek will not be an option - at least for the next two years.
Thoughts Spurs fans?
Its NOT difficult to imagine for lorbek to look after his future. The spurs are just to slow in making up their mind. They signed butler to a contract who is in the process of rehabilitation despite the fact that the lineup has a crowded players of shooting guards.small forwards with limited height. They could have signed r. richards earlier and allow him play in the d-league. Player height preference seems to be the problem of mgnt and coaching staff. They prefer 6'7" or even smaller players to train and take a risk but, the shy away from young, tall rookies whom the could develop. Spurs wake up baketball means Height is Might! As for lorbek, good for him. Stay in europe and play instead of joining the spurs and warm your butt in the bench.
@Spursfan84 After sitting the spurs bench and traded without compensation? You must be pulling my leg. Am sure Mr. Scola has pride and common sense.
You must be a dumazz...Scola never made it to the Spurs bench to sit...Lmao @ fairweather Spurs fan, who don't know xhit to make replies to others who clearly knows.
@iBeR0LLiN @rtesoro440 The Spurs wouldn't pay Scola what he expected and although the spurs had his rights they never signed a contract with him. He later got Traded to the Rockets for Cash, thats right it was all about the Benjamins. Its one of the few mistakes the spurs front office has made. Now, lets talk about Lorbek. Who cares? let him play in euro. If anyone thinks he is more NBA ready than Richards they are CRAZY! Look at RR's #'s in the U-20 euro tourny. Loved the article about his 2 game slump(18 and 25 points after a 38 point "this court is MINE" bombshell) Who cares about Lorbek, don't make Richards the next Scola.
